Tour Authentic X-Prototype Irons
Awesome set of Sticks!
I purchased these clubs in February of this year and couldn't wait for golf season here in the Midwest to put them in play! I have been playing a set of Mizuno Pro II forged for the past 8 years and had never found a club that could knock them out of the bag until the Protos! These are an amazing set of clubs in all respects. If you are just a decent ball striker who makes consistant contact, you should give these a try or the new "Razr" version that is currently for sale. You will definitely "get what you hit" with these clubs but they are easily worked left or right or what ever the situation dictates. I've never been a huge fan of the Project X shaft but the "flighted" version really works great in these. Very accurate off the tee or out of the fairway or rough. Really like the thin top line and the thin sole cuts through any turf situation with ease. Try em you'll like em!

Long, accurate, workable, and SOFT
I recently started playing with the X-Prototypes with a set of KBS Prototype shafts. (Yeah, it's a little cheesy have an "all-prototype" set, but whatever.) I am a self-professed club ho, and I can say, without out a doubt, that this is one of the very finest heads ever produced, almost certainly the best ever. The feel of these clubs is nothing short of incredible - amazingly soft, yet still firm on impact. The feedback is also awesome - you know when you hit off-center (and exactly how and where), but without that bone-shattering sting common to most - if not all - other blades.
The Protos are insanely workable, from 3-iron to PW. When I'm swinging these clubs well, I pick a trajectory and shape... and, presto, the shot appears!!! I've often struggled with the high draw and low/stinger fade, but no more. Also, I find it's very hard, if not impossible, to "overcook" shaped shots with these irons. If you want 5 yards of fade, you can be darn sure that you *won't* get 15 yards of fade or a crossed-up draw - you'll either get your 5 yards or nothing at all.
These heads also have a lot of raw distance in them - I picked up just under 1/2 a club with my standard swing. But, when I hit the gas and give these a "max" swing, I can squeeze about 6-8 yards more out of them. The distance and spin control are also superb, especially in the short irons. Combine this the workability and no flag, no matter how well-guarded, is safe.
I also think the Prototypes are the most forgiving blade-type iron EVER. No golfer, not even Tiger Woods, centers the club perfectly on every swing. It's just a fact of life. The Prototypes will penalize you - but mostly with feedback! On mishits, I find I loose some distance (comparable with just about any club, short of some funky ultra-game-improvement stick) but the directional stability is SUPERB. Even on toe hits - the kryptonite of just about every blade and even most player's irons - will not unduly penalize you.
Basically, Callaway has produced a superb set of heads here. I've owned my share of blades/player's irons (including many exotics) and hit probably 50 different heads at demo days and such over the past few years. These are, in my opinion, the best. Yes, you need a solid and consistent swing to hit the Prototypes, but I would venture that any single-digit and many low-double-digit players can hit them and would benefit from their awesomeness.
The only, and I mean ONLY downside: Callaway will not sell you the heads only. I knew the shafts, grips, swingweights, lies, etc. that I wanted, but I also wanted my clubmaker to do the assembly work. (Rightly or wrongly, I don't trust the major OEMs when it comes to club assembly...) I had to buy a pre-assembled set, rather just the heads.

Amazing is all I can say
I have owned my prototypes for over a year now and all I can say say is wow. I have used all types of blades, Mizuno Titleist, Honma and nothing can compare to the feel and look of the prototypes. Pure ball flight with soft feel and a miss is never as bad as with something like my Mizuno's. I would have ordinarily purchased a new set of irons by now however I haven't found anything that comes close to my prototypes.
I would buy another set if I could find some that were new!

It feels so good to hit blades again. I bought some " blades" that were in fact game improvement and I gave them away. These are solid, long and as accurate as you can get. They had minor cosmetic flaws, which I expected for being used, but they did not in any way effect the performance. When I wear these out I will go.back to Callaway again!

Bought these without ever swinging them as an upgrade to my old steelhead x-14's. I got the 2 up with project x rifle 5.5 shafts and the shafts seem to be just right for my tempo. I have felt the x-14's were holding me back so to speak the past few years from bringing down my score. As in, they were not as consistent as I would like in terms of feel, distance, and accuracy. Even on perfect swings and contact, there were variances. I was hesitant as some others have mentioned of going from cavity back game improvement irons to a forged blade, but I have hit them well and it's almost like if you are a bike rider and are scared/unsure of making the switch to clipless pedals - once you do, you wonder why you ever worried about. They feel great, I really haven't mis hit them yet, but even slightly off center hits are not punished much at all. Love the look at address, and the sound and feel at impact is sweet (my playing partners even mentioned on a 3 iron shot the other day how the sound was impressive, as well as the shot!) Don't hesitate to try or buy them and gain accuracy and confidence.

I got this 3 iron on sale and even though it was used, it looks and performs like brand new! Would definitely order again from Callaway Preowned!! And it's good to know that it's authentic equipment, not counterfeit....

BEST IRON IVE HAD
Ive been through a bunch of irons trying to find a set that is just right for me. I played a set of blades back in junior high when i first made the golf team. Went through several sets of cavity backs and forged clubs, but decided to give these blades/musclebacks a try. Love em!
My scores are in the mid to high 70's now. You have to hit them good to be effective but they are not completely unforgiving if you mishit.
Great job by Callaway!
