      Technology Specs

X Forged Utility Irons Technology Item
      • Forged Precision and Performance

We used extensive input from Tour players in this forged design. The CG is strategically positioned in line with the center of the face for maximum ball speed and a straighter flight.

      • More Control and Forgiveness

The tungsten infused insert increases MOI, making it easier to control shots with easy launch and long carry. The hollow body construction also adds forgiveness in a traditional long iron shape.

      • Longer Average Distance

Our industry-leading 360 Face Cup technology increases ball speed with greater efficiency on center hits, and further minimizes distance loss on off-center hits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Long Iron Replacement I have the X Forged UT in 18, 21, 24 and they are great long iron replacements. While they aren't the longest, I am not sure that I want them to be much longer than a 2i, 3i, or 4i. This way they gap perfectly fine with my regular set of irons. The feel off the face is exceptional. You notice a mishit but it isn't punishing. They launch very high as well. I have no problems hitting the 18 degree off the deck and I have no worries that I won't get the height that I need. So if you need something to hit bullet stingers, these might not be for you, but if you want a long iron or hybrid replacement that you won't fight going left, then this is your golden ticket! Also they are able to be adjusted to your lie! I play my clubs flat and have a hard time getting a flatter hybrid, but with these it was easy to get them bent flat for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than just a driving iron Many utility irons are marketed as merely driving irons. This club is not a driving iron; it is a true long iron replacement. Long off the tee or deck. It is very forgiving and yields consistent, lengthy distances. Easy to flight the ball high and drop on a dime or hit low, blistering stingers that can stay under the wind and roll out 20 to 30 yards. The club is hollow and good strikes will occasionally have a tinging sound reminiscent of a metal fairway wood. However, the club itself provides a solid amount of feel and feedback for your off-center strikes. I went with the 18 degree model bent to 17 degrees and have experienced no difficulty in launching the ball. Whether swinging easy or out of your shoes, this club will fly. Compared to a forged muscle back or cavity iron, this club is more along the lines of a game improvement in its ease of use. The X-Forged UT is a beautiful club. It’s appearance blends well with blades, cavities, or GIs. After several weeks of use at the range and on the course, hitting dozens of balls per day, the club face has held up well. The sole of the club has some wear, but nothing out of the ordinary. I would prefer if the club was labeled, in tradition, simply as “2” instead of “18*” for appearance and consistency purposes, but that is my personal opinion and not a detractor to the club’s performance or overall appearance. If you are among the golfers who value having a versatile club that you can use to play off the tee, out of the woods, or target a green from 220 plus yards out, instead of carrying another wedge in your bag that’s only good from 75 yards going in, and are willing to make a somewhat expensive investment, give the Callaway X-Forged UT a try.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Might have a new favorite club. I really enjoy hitting the club. It’s a great addition to my bag for a low penetrating ball flight off the tee. Really forgiving even if I miss the sweet spot. Would definitely recommend to others. Only reason it got a 4 out of 5 stars is because the ferrule wasn’t installed properly so it’s crooked with a gap. I purchased the like new club, I expected some dings but not that. I called on it and was informed it is just cosmetic but they did put a note on my account incase it does become an issue in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from X forged 2018 Purchased a 7 iron x forged from callaway pre own based on the high reviews on several forums. Demoed against my apex pro 16-7 iron, (same shaft and specs). After approx 100 shots each I found apex pro 16 to be more accurate, comparable distance and actually feel better. This is my experience, yours may very. I feel x forged is an excellent iron just not an upgrade from apex pro 16

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Club built to my specs Have only been on the course once since receiving my club. Performance was excellent as I was able to reach close to the greens with my second shot on par 5's. My only regret is that I could not get a 2 iron to match my other rogue irons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Insane speeds in a small package! Picked this beauty up to give myself another option off the tee on some fast and firm courses. Comes off the face like a rocket ship and it feels like butter. Unlike any other driving iron I’ve ever hit. Well done Callaway!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best club in the bag Nothing is more accurate. Distance rivals the 3-wood. Most pressure-packed hole my son faced -- the No. 9, 190-yard par 3 at East Lake in Atlanta -- he used this club and came within six feet to the hole. Only issue is this particular club was very difficult to obtain due to back orders and wait time. Originally ordered through a local Callaway rep. Waited a month ... nothing. Ordered then on Callaway online. Waited for another month. Evidently, this club had not been made or something weird. Worth the wait, though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Something not quite right... I have the 2 iron version as well. It’s straight, feels good. I bought the 4 iron direct from Callaway. It’s all over the place. I’m sure it’s me, not the club. But for me, this club leaves something to be desired. I don’t know if it’s the shaft, I paired it up with my iron shafts but there is something off. I will say. If you pure this club it is a rocket, probably 15 yards longer than the driving iron it was replacing. I think it’s a little expensive for what you’re getting. I thought it would be much more forgiving. After 1 round, the face has some decent scratches. It doesn’t impact performance but frankly, it’s a lot of scuffing for the little amount of use.
