    What You Need To Know

      Innovation

      Technology Specs

Apex CF 16 Irons Technology Item
      • Distance With Playability

This is our first face cup in a forged players iron. We’ve taken our industry-leading 360 Face Cup technology that’s redefined ball speed in fairway woods and irons, and precision engineered the face cup to give you consistent ball speed across the face in a forged Apex design.

      • Scoring Performance Through The Set

The progressive offset, sole widths, CG height and notch weighting provide the right balance of ball flight, playability, forgiveness and control for each iron. The longer irons feature more offset where you need it for more forgiveness, while the shorter irons have a more compact shape with less offset for feel and control.

      • Multi-Piece Construction

This high tech construction goes through the whole set to create a remarkable combination of distance, feel and control for any player. The longer irons (3-7) utilize the 360 Face Cup to increase ball speeds and forgiveness across the face. In the shorter irons (8-AW), we’ve included a unique engineered face plate to enhance feel and distance control.

      • Extremely Soft Feel From Advanced Forging

We applied an extremely precise quadruple net forging, precision milling, and 1025 mild carbon steel to produce a new standard for incredibly soft feel in a forged iron.

      • Premium Shaft Offerings

True Temper XP 95 stock steel offering with a wide selection of steel shaft options at no upcharge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product & customer service These are my first time playing forged irons and they have a great feel and look! One of the clubs on my order had a slight defect and customer service sent me another set immediately that was in better condition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Winning Since purchasing these irons, I have won one tournament and come in second in another. They are not quite as long as my previous clubs, but are much more forgiving on slight off center hits. In short, they go where I aim them! I wish I had tried them a long time sago!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like butter when you connect These clubs have a sweet spot unlike the others I’ve tried. It’s so smooth when you make solid contact with the ball. When you don’t get it right, the club will tell you but won’t ruin your shot. Forgiveness is strong enough to keep decent distance and the ball will still be in play. I love the matte finish on these clubs compared to some of the other polished finishes. One thing to note though is that these clubs will show marks of banging against each other much easier than clubs with a polished finished. I was told it’s bc it’s a forged club... anyway, I put club head covers (which I’m not a fan of) to keep them looking new. We’ll see how that works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These irons are good! I purchased the Apex CF16 irons because my old irons presented too much offset. My old irons were too difficult to aim/play-consistently-well. I now own irons that do not get in my way. I can score low with the Apex CF16. Lastly, the Callaway Customer Service was wonderful. I am now inclined to make all future club purchases directly from the manufacturer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great clubs. / Great value Played a friends Callaway Apex CF 16 irons and decided I wanted to buy a set. Found exactly what I was looking at Callaway Pre Owned. Price was great compared to retail golf stores. Transaction worked smoothly. I was able to trade in my set of Ping irons at a reasonable return. Have used Callaway Pre Owned since for a club for my wife. Will always check this site for future club purchases.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Satisfied Pros: I purchased the Apex CF 16 irons from Callaway Pre-Owned. A week after the purchase, the cost was reduced. When I called Callaway Pre-Owned, they credited my account with the difference no questions asked. I was happy with the customer service and the purchase itself. The clubs were listed as "like new" condition, and when I received them, they looked brand new. I probably paid half the price of what I would have paid if I bought these same irons in stores. I was happy with the purchase. I upgraded from X-Hot Pro irons. The Apex CF 16 is a far superior club. On quality strikes, it almost seems as if I don't feel the ball on the club face at impact. Callaway classifies these clubs as being mid to low handicap irons. I personally think they are closer to the mid-handicap range. The top line and sole might be a touch thicker than what one would expect for a players iron. For me, with the 4 and 5 iron, I can see part of the back of the club behind the top line at address. A mid handicap iron actually suits my game better, so no complaints from me. But if you are a lower handicap player, you might give stronger consideration to the Apex CF 16 Pro irons. Cons: I really think Callaway missed the mark by making the True Temper XP 95 the stock shaft for the Apex CF 16. In my opinion, the XP 95 is more of a game improvement shaft. It seems like a mismatch that this would be the stock shaft for what is advertised as a mid to low handicapper club. I'm partly to blame for not doing more research beforehand. I'm not overly crazy when it comes to customization, but found the XP 95 to be too light of a shaft, and it promotes too high of a launch for my swing. I'm switching out the shafts and replacing with Project X 5.5 shafts, hoping this will provide a more suitable ball flight for my swing. As a reference point, I'm 35 years old. I would consider my swing speed and tempo to be slightly above average and I carry my 7-iron approximately 160 yards. All in all, I'm pleased with the clubs and still feel like I came out ahead, even having to swap out shafts.
