    What You Need To Know

      Technology Specs

Steelhead XR Pro Irons Technology Item
      • More Speed and Distance from Next-Generation 360 Face Cup Technology

Next-generation 360 Face Cup™ technology increases ball speed with greater efficiency on both center hits and mis-hits for more distance on every swing.

      • Consistent Launch and Better Feel from Steel-Infused Polyurethane Layer

Absorbs unwanted vibration for great feel. Integrating steel into the urethane adds weight to lower the head’s Center of Gravity for faster ball speed and consistent launch.

      • More Forgiveness from Hollow Bore-Thru Hosel Design

Hollow Bore-Thru hosel design saves weight that’s repositioned in strategic places in the head to create more forgiveness and workability.

      • More Control and Distance from Progressive Center of Gravity Positioning

The CG is positioned strategically in each iron to promote consistent launch and long carry in the long-irons, great workability and control in the middle-irons, and lower and high-spinning shots in the short-irons.

      • Refined Shaping and Finish

The head shape is more compact, with a thinner topline and narrower sole width in a high-performance player’s iron. And the sleek black PVD finish gives Steelhead XR Pro an unforgettable look

Steelhead XR Pro Irons is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 103.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from From blades to these I have been playing golf for a long time. I started out playing blades and until this year I was still playing blades. I have tried to hit other clubs but they lacked feel or were too thick. About halfway through this summer I noticed my game getting sloppy towards the 15 - 16 hole. I just didn’t have enough left in the tank physically to finish strong. I knew I was at the end of my blade days. I went to PGA store and tried a few “players” clubs. They didn’t have the Steelhead XR Pro. I went to Callaway Preowned and found an outlet set with 30% off. I bought them and traded my blades. I did 3 or 4 range sessions and couldn’t miss my target. I took them to my favorite course and shot 5 strokes lower than my personal best! A 5 over didn’t seem possible but I did it. Now as for the clubs, the look great. The finish doesn’t wear off the way some lead you to believe. The bottom scuffs just like a chrome finished club. The distance was about 6 to 10 yards farther than my Titleist MB16 irons. The flight was classic but about 20 feet higher than the blades. The landings are soft. I can stick a green and spin a 7 iron on the green from a 160 tee. The sound is fantastic and the feel isn’t forged blade. I’d say Mizuno blade being 10 for feel and my old Titleist MB’s a 8.5 the Callaway Steelhead XR Pro would be a 5.5. For a cast club it’s one of the best. The Epic Pro and the TM Speedblade being slightly higher as the top for cast feel. The no offset on the Steelhead XR Pro is great coming from blade and a draw is always an option. I don’t fade much. I can hit it with these but it’s not a go to shot. If you buy these you’re buying tradition with Callaway. They are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase I am happy with this purchase...both 4 and 5 irons have been awesome on the course. I hit well over 200 yards with both and the sound of the ball hitting the club face sound great! I find not problems with the clubs...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Callaway Irons I've owned I'm 68 years old and weather permitting play 2-3 times a week with other old folks. I hook everything, so the decreased offset in the Steelhead Pro was made for me. I'm not exceptionally talented, but I have no trouble playing my usual draw, and a fade if I'm forced to. I love the feedback and the irons are long. Since I've had these for over a year now, I've had a hole in one on a 141 yard par 3, and 3 eagles in the 120-160 yard range. I've had one previous hole in one several years ago, and haven't holed a shot from the fairway in the past 10 years. So yeah, I think these are great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XR Pro Steelhead Irons are amazing I have been hitting Titleist 981 irons for over 20 years and decided to upgrade my irons. The XR Pro Steelhead Irons are a wonderful surprise. Very forgiving, great distance and control. Also, purchased for under $400. I am very happy with these clubs. The swing weight is on the heavy side, but I prefer to feel the head of the club. The hardest part to using a new club is getting comfortable with the new length. But my misses are spot on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to swing and long The XR Pro irons are easy to swing in that the balance from head to grips seems to allow the club to stay on path and keep a smoother swing plane. These irons have a lot of POP in them. They are a club longer in each iron because of that, so distance control is a learning curve. Nice iron and happy to play them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very solid and forgiving I am a single digit handicap and liked my equipment but I was long overdue to trade up to new technology over my Callaway X16 Steelheads. Getting into my 50’s and have slightly lost some distance in my irons so I tried a buddy’s XR Steelhead Pros and just grooved them on a regular basis. The ball jumped off the club and feedback was good I had little problem drawing the ball but fading was more difficult. Given that it is a noticeable improvement in clubface tech I expected some distance gains and got about 10 yards extra per club on short to mid irons and more with long irons. Club weight is noticeably heavier than my old clubs but not too much. Even better was the carry distance I got on mis-hits. I like the top line view and the black. Could care less if the black finish wears off...c’mon guys really!?
