    Features & Benefits

More Speed and Distance from Next-Generation 360 Face Cup Technology

Next-generation 360 Face Cup™ technology increases ball speed with greater efficiency on both center hits and mis-hits for more distance on every swing.

Higher Launch and Better Feel from Steel-Infused Polyurethane Layer

A bar of steel-infused soft urethane layer positioned behind the lower portion of the face serves two functions. 1) Absorbs unwanted vibration for great feel. 2) The integration of steel into the urethane adds weight, which lowers the head’s Center of Gravity for faster ball speed on low hits and higher launch characteristics.

More Forgiveness from Hollow Bore-Thru Hosel Design

Hollow Bore-Thru hosel design saves significant weight that’s repositioned in strategic places in the head to create more forgiveness and easier launch.

More Control and Distance from Progressive Center of Gravity Positioning

The CG is positioned strategically in each iron to promote easy launch and long carry in the long-irons, easy launch and keen control in the middle-irons, and lower and high-spinning shots in the short-irons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Took Advice, tried them, liked them, bought them and love them I am probably a 16-17 hcp. golfer and up until I bought these clubs still used steel shaft irons. My last set of irons were Titleist 714 AP1s and while I hit them decently, after attending a Callaway Demo Day at my club, realized that as a senior golfer, I would definitely benefit from graphite shafts. In July, I purchased this set from the PGA Superstore in Paramus, NJ. They gave me a great trade-in for my Titleist AP1s, i.e. 150% of their value due to the Callaway 150% promo. My recent rounds with these new clubs have a) provided me at least 10 more yards per club. The clubs themselves are much lighter and as a result effortless to use. An added benefit of the lighter, more flexible shafts is that senior golfers gain more whip in the shaft to generate increased club-head speed at impact. That's had a positive effect on my game. Mis-hit shots are not as damaging to your round, either. I bought my set as a 5-PW with Sr. Flex, 55 gm. shafts. I then went online at Callaway and ordered the 3 & 4 iron to complete the set. That process was effortless and the online order arrived within the schedule promised by Callaway. All in all, I am enjoying these clubs, playing better golf and now can also play several days in a row, which my prior heavier steel shafts didn't always permit me to do. I recommend these clubs to ALL levels of golfers if you want to improve your game. They can be purchased in Stiff and Regular Steel, Stiff, Regular and Sr. Graphite. This is my first set of Callways and while I hope to not have to replace them anytime soon, will definitely give Callaway a look again when the day comes that I do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handicap dropped like a stone I waited a number of years to get new clubs. I played with the demo set of Callaway steelhead XR irons a number of times at my club and really liked them. I waited for demo day and I was fitted by Barry from Callaway. No computers or fancy video. Just seat-of-the-pants analysis by Barry. I bought the five iron through PW with 3 and 4 hybrids. I also bought an Epic driver, Epic 5 wood and Mack Daddy wedges; 52, 56 and 60. I have had the clubs for less than 1 month. My handicap index has dropped from 15 to 11.1. I have complete confidence with the irons. They hit 5 yards longer with near perfect directional accuracy. The wedges likewise hit straight. I am still fiddling with the distances a little bit. The driver takes a little more getting used to but it hits about 15 yards longer than my previous driver and is very forgiving. Misses are straight. I have two minor complaints. First, the clubs took a while for delivery after ordering. It seemed like too long a wait but it was only about three weeks. The other minor issue is I didn't like the club covers. Instead, I purchased some generic covers online that work very well. These clubs are nearly custom. Barry was able to give me the correct lie, choice of grind, shafts and grips. The correct shafts make a huge difference. I am winning a lot in the bi-weekly men's league. Only 95 more wins and I will have paid for the cost of the clubs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these clubs I have owned nothing but Callaway clubs for the past 8 years now! I am always trading up for newer clubs, because Callaway keeps improving their product! Callaway pre-owned is a great way to do that, without going broke! As for the Steelhead XR irons, as I said, I love them! I was playing the XR OS irons, and had started to struggle with them. So I decided to give the new Steelhead irons a try, my playing partners have noticed the difference! My shots, even if they are off center a little bit, fly straight at the flag! They may come up a little short, but they go where I aim them, and short chips are not a big deal, better than being in the sand! Anyway, if you are on the fence, don't be, they can help your game as well. About me: over 60 Handicap: 15 moving toward 12 Play about 130 rounds per year

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game improvement clubs I bought the Steelhead XR with Matrix graphite shafts in regular flex. I am extremely satisfied. These are game improvement irons, so they are a little larger with some offset, but otherwise they remind me of my old X-14 pros! They are great looking clubs. Callaway quality is always good and these irons are no exception. My clubs had never been hit, so brand new! I regripped, but I could have easily played them. The clubs are super easy to hit, straight and long-very long. I have always hit on the low side, but these clubs are incredibly easy to hit high. It has taking me awhile to get used to the graphite shafts and I am still not there yet but for the first time in 2 years I have broken 80! I highly recommend these clubs. I will say that you should take great care in choosing the right shaft! If possible, hit them. Good luck and keep it in the short grass...!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great irons but ... Love these irons! However, the set I ordered was supposed to all be 3 degrees upright and they were all over the map, from 2 degrees flat to 2 degrees up. I had to take the set to my local shop to correct all the lies/lofts. One club was so far off that they couldn't get it to specs still. Otherwise, great clubs and love the ability to order from this web site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lives up to the hype I bought the 6-w My other set is the X-ray same setting. I am 70 5 handicap play often. The Xr have recoil shafts and are a bit solf The steelheads have the kuro kage shafts. Regular on both. The steelheads are straighter but I d not find any longer. Very little hook or fade in these irons unless you really cook them. Just point aim swing. I did find a lot of spin on the ball but not over the top I think once I use these more they will get better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Game Improvement Irons Purchased these with the XP 95 steel shafts after trying out the Recoil Graphites and found that the steel provided better feel and distance for my swing. For GI irons they produce a surprising amount of backspin. I would have ordered the pro version but they weren't available on the preowned site and my testing showed very little difference in head to head hitting on the range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Irons for higher handicap golfers. These irons are very forgiving due to the wide face. Also, I would recommend getting the Approach Wedge as it is my go to club from 50 yards out!
