These are stupid long!
Been playing the Razr X set for last 4 years and really enjoyed the ball flight and distances with those clubs. Normal carry with 7 was 170 and 4H was 210 so I wasn't convinced I really needed a new set of clubs -- those distances were great for me. However, decided it was time to try some new technology and invest in a set for the next 4 years, thus bought the new XRs. I've played 4 rounds and the distances are sick! I'm carrying my 7 185, hit my 6 iron into a 200 yard par 3 (into a slight breeze) the other day but it released to the back fringe and blew my own mind when I hit my 4H 235 on a par 5. I expected some distance but I certainly didn't anticipate these types of increases. Callaway has set a high bench mark with these clubs that may take a few years before they can offer something truly better.

Don't buy into the hype
i feel a bit foolish for buying into this hype. I was playing five year old Callaway Diablo Edge irons and although I liked them and hit them well, I felt I could use just a little more distance and if the new XR's would give me even a half a club more length it would be worth it. Well needless to say I feel like I threw six hundred dollars down the drain. Don't believe the hype. Not one club longer, not half a club longer, not ONE INCH longer. I hit them exactly the same distance as my five year old Diablo Edges.

The performance is certainly in these clubs. I find the 7 through AW to be effortless and responsive. High launchers with 1/2 club gains in distance. The dispersion is also tight. I've struggled a bit with the longer irons but that is the case for me with most sets. My problem is the finish, I can't understand why a satin finish isn't applied to these, every year I get sucked in and buy the latest from Callaway and every year I end up with a club that looks a year old within 3 to 5 rounds. It's very frustrating.

My previous clubs are X2 Hot, these are not 2 clubs longer
I have found no advantage to XR irons over X2 Hot, a bit of a let down.

Great irons, git plenty of loft and plenty of distance
I am 68 years old, these irons are giving me the height and length on all my iron shots, they land soft and stick. I would recommend these irons to anyone.

Got fitted today with the 5 - AW Irons with graphite shafts and larger grips. I just got into golf 3 years ago and this is my first set of new clubs and not hand me downs. My 5 Iron with a swing speed of 79 was going 220 yards! straight! WOW that's an improvement of 25 yards over my 5 hybrid cobra. So at least a club and half to 2 club difference!
Everyone at the indoor range had to try them and each and everyone from the scratch golfer and the Higher handicap like me did incredible
They Look good, Hit good and I am happy!
Thank you !
Now need to save up to buy driver and fairway wood!

A Definite improvment over RAZR X Black irons
I wanted a new set of irons to replace my RAZR X blacks. I skipped the X2s because they were really ugly. I'm glad I waited for the XRs. Better looking but still has a chrome finish.
When I was getting fitted on a launch monitor, some of my shots were 15-20 yards longer. So i knew there was something to the new face technology. On the course, not quite as far. I'm 10 -12 yards longer on a well struck shot. Mishits seem to balloon up and fall short.
I agree with some reviews that the club is kind of light and hard to feel where it is when swinigng. Smooth tempo is a must to get the most out of these clubs!

Very good decision. Worth every penny. Truly added 20 yards per club
