Great Big Bertha Driver
Great big nasty bomber
Hi. My name is John. And I am a Callaway junkie. It's been two days since I last held my Great Big Bertha. And I am shaking from Withdrawals.
I have owned every Callaway driver ever made for the last 15 years! This new driver is the most amazing piece of engineering to come out of Carlsbad, ever!!!
It's really long off the tee! I thought the last episode of True Detective was long. This new driver is longer!!!
I thought my last visit to the dentist was long. This driver is longer!!!
If you thought you've seen some pretty long lines at Disneyland.... This driver is longer!!!
If you thought that the last presidential debate was long..... This driver is wayyyyyyy longer!!!
Do you get what I am saying?????? This driver is longggggggg!!!
It's very forgiving and extremely accurate. The sweet spot on this driver is the biggest I've ever experienced from Callaway. And the face is SUPER HOT!!! If you thought that Kendall or Kylie Jenner had a hot face, well..... You guessed it. This face is hotter!!!
I just love the way this driver looks at address. It just oozes confidence. And the sound is awesome. It sounds like KKKKAAAAAABBOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!!
This is a low spin driver. Not a crazy low spin. But when it hits the ground, you get some great roll. I love watching the ball roll another 20 yards after it lands.
I'm so happy that I don't live on the east coast or in the Midwest. Cuz I'd be depressed and despondent over having to put this driver away for the next several months, waiting for spring to come around.
Do yourself a big favor, just try this driver. You're gonna love it!!!
If you become a junkie like me, don't worry. I hear that there's a recovery program coming soon.
And by the way, if you thought this review was long.......the new great big Bertha 816 is longer!!!
(Views are my own. And I'm not paid by Callaway to be this nuts about their equipment)

One and done
By no means am I diminishing the excellent product Titleist put out this year. I purchased my 915 D3 in early June, and loved every second of it.
Got to demo the Great Big Bertha in a long drive competition with our local Callaway rep over the weekend (8/14). The first swing was the only one needed. 317 carry, 343 with runout. Purchased on the spot. Nice job Callaway! The worst part will be waiting for it to ship!

This Driver has a hotter face than the XR
I demoed this driver at my local driving range. I hit it along with my current driver, XR, The GBB has a hotter face than the XR. I like the clean matte finish on the crown, I feel the XR is a little "Busy Looking" I was able to demo the GBB with the same shaft as my XR and the GBB is 10 to 15 yards longer than the XR driver. I noticed the ball lands hotter and rolls much farther than the XR driver. I really like the added adjustability with the weight on the back. The good news is the shaft from my XR will work on this driver.

Not what I expected
I have purchased Callaway clubs for years. This driver was a big disappointment. Distance and control is not there. I purchased it with the Kuro Kage black shaft(as recommended by driver selector on this page). At least 7-10 yds shorter than my X2 Hot driver with stock shaft. Spent an hour at the range trying different settings, but control and distance never improved. Really disappointed with the lack of distance at every setting.

Excellent driver with many quality shaft upgrades
I played most of this year with the SLDR and then R15 drivers, Have also had some demo outings with the 915. Last year I played with the 2014 Big Bertha, As most of you have probably now concluded, the majority of these new heads will give you roughly the same distance. The real gain in distance and accuracy is in optimizing spin and launch angle plus off center forgiveness. The new GBB excels in all three areas. I attribute this to the multiple shaft choices, the Optifit hosel, and the perimeter weighting.
Having said the obvious, here is what I see in actual play. I play the 9 degree with the Speeder 665 Evolution, stiff. My average spin rate is in the 2500 range with a 15 degree launch, plus or minus 10% on both specs depending on my swing. Excellent numbers for someone who has always been a high spin, high launch player. I see minimal distance loss on off center hits. Drive to drive, very consistent.
An issue I had with the R15 were misses that were high right with lots of spin. The R15 is a great club but I could get enough of a change by moving the sliding weights. Same was true for the 2014 Big Bertha. The new GBB has much more adjustability for a draw bias, I now rarely lose one right and if I do, it's just a slight 10 yard fade. The majority of my drives are either straight or slight left pulls. The reviews that this club has more draw bias than the 2014 Big Bertha are factual.
I could not be more pleased with the Speeder Evolution shaft. Beautiful feel and control for me. However, with 19 premium no upcharge shaft offerings, do take advantage of a good fitting to optimize the shaft for your swing. That service is built into the high price tag so why not take advantage of it. I'm confident that you will find your ideal numbers. I know that $450 is big bucks. I only give this club 5 stars for value if the fitting process is used.
In summary, I could not be happier with this club. It's at the top of any driver I've used or tested in the last few years,

Very dissapointed with the driver
I switched from the Big Bertha V series to the new Great Big Bertha. I feel like I have lost 20/30 yards off of the tee. I have tried several changes to the club and can't get the distance back. Doesn't seem any more forgiving to me. Every time a new club is released it is hailed as more forgiving, with more distance. I don't see a lot of improvement in the new Great Big Bertha.

Best Driver I have purchased in years
Botton line best driver I have purchased in years. Club is very forgiving and long! I have played Ping I20, Titleist 913 D3, Titleist 915 D2, and now the Great Big Bertha. I am an 11 handicap and drive the ball on avg 270. With the Great Big Bertha, I had four drives over 285 in my first round with the club. Longest drive was 302 (verified with my laser range finder). Make sure you get fitted!!!! Great job Callaway!!

unbelievable distance & forgiveness
Callaway has done it again! This driver will get me back to Callaway. I purchased the original G.B.B. in the early 90's and can't wait to get the new one. I was about to buy a 915 when the announcement for the new G.B.B. came out. I've tested it a couple of times and am convinced there isn't a longer, more forgiving , and even workable driver on the market.
Hats of to Callaway and the G.B.B. you brought me back again. Price is steep however!
