Comments about Callaway Golf FT Irons:

I love the products but was not happy the way the clubs are rated. I purchased many ft clubs all rated in good shape but when I received the sand wedge it should have been rated in bad shape and not good that has been my only problem with the pre owned clubs the way they are rated. I ordered "Like New" condition clubs and they looked like they had never been used before. As a new golfer, these irons are very forgiving and have shaved many strokes off my game.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT Irons:

I previously played the big bertha Fusion irons which I loved. The FTs are even better than the original. The FTs are definitely for the player with a consistent swing, even though they are marketed towards mid-high handicaps. Forgiving for a compact head, reduced offset, and sleek appearance make these irons very attractive. The clean lines at address instill the right amount of confidence. The feel is soft yet firm. I have the stock graphite shaft which is above average. Important to note that Callaway graphite shafts play almost a flex weak (a stiff will play like a regular). I've bought and traded about 15 sets of irons in the past 3-4 years, and FTs are my favorite. I plan on keeping these for awhile.

I like everything about the irons. The way they look at setup, the feel. They have an offset, but not too much. When I hit the ball with the sweet spot it feels like I'm hitting a marshmallow, but when I look up, the ball's on the green.

If your considering the FT's with the graphite shaft you are really on the right track,(in my humble opinion.) I've been playing awhile now with a real bad left shoulder, had to drop from stiff steel clubs to regular graphite. I shopped around awhile and these are some of the best I've ever owned. Almost back down to my 10 hdcp.

Willy,''I am a few years younger than you and have a similar handicap. I tried senior flex and regular flex which resulted in a consistent fade or slice. The senior flex launced the ball 4-5 football fields to the right. I went to a stiff flex, cavity backed, club with a steel shaft and have experiencing a slow but steady improvement in accuracy and distance. It seems that I now play a driver, a mid iron and a wedge, finishing with a putter on every hole. Now, putting is my recurring problem. My best advice is for you to the golf shop and swing a several different types of clubs on different days. Choose the best feel and performance, then take the new clubs out for a try. I hope this helps coming from a golfer with similar characteristics. Truly, the best first step is to accept assitance from the golf shop and a lesson from a pro.

The i-brids are like a hybrid-type iron, whereas the FT irons are more like a traditional iron. The i-brids will offer a little bit more forgiveness, and will be a little bit easier to hit in the air.

A uniflex shaft has is in between a regular and stiff flex and is the most common shaft in golf. It adjusts to your swing speed so if you swing fast it will play as a stiff, and if you swing slower it plays like a regular flex.

If you like the hybrids in your higher irons, I would suggest going with the FT i-brids. They will have hybrid type irons in the 3, 4 and 5 irons, which are very easy to hit, and regular irons in the 6-PW. The FT irons are a great iron as well, but with your current set makeup, I would recommend the FT i-brids.

I would recommend the X-22 iron set. I would get professionally fitted first so that they can check to see what length and/or lie you would need so you get the correct irons.

As a 5'7" golfer myself, please rest assured I have your enjoyment in mind. If you are hooking your irons, check the basics before you go out and buy again....
-First, make sure your X-18's "fit".
-(Did you have shaft trimmed 1/2"?)
-(Did and have lie moved 1 degree "Up"/Gold?)
-Does flex match your swing speed (know it, by the way?)
-Make certain your weapons complement the warrior...getting fitted can save several hooked iron shots EVERY ROUND.

Both irons would be a great fit, but the FT irons will have a little bit more forgiveness, while still having a thinner look like the X-22 irons.

I had the X16 steelheads for about 5 years and have about 90-95 swing speed. I was also a 8 handicap. I bought X20 had for about a year and I don't hit the sweet spot enough and handicap is 13. I'am 50 and looking at X22 or FT's. I want something to keep as I get older. Uniflex, Regular, Graphite, I don't know. My Pro said 5.0 Rifle for the X20, what do you suggest for my next purchase?

If you were having trouble hitting the sweet spot with the X-20 irons, I would suggest going with the FT irons. They will offer great forgiveness, while still maintaining a thin look. If your swing speed is still around 90 mph, I would go with the uniflex shaft. This shaft plays in between a regular and stiff shaft and will adjust to your swing speed. That being said, if your swing speed decreases in the next few years, that shaft would still be a great fit for you.

At 6 feet tall standard length will work great. A light (senior) shaft is made for someone with a swing speed under 80 mph. A regular shaft is made for someone with a swing speed from 80-90 mph. A uniflex shaft has is in between a regular and stiff flex and is the most common shaft in golf. It adjusts to your swing speed so if you swing fast it will play as a stiff, and if you swing slower it plays like a regular flex.
