Product Overview

The new FT-5 Driver is the latest evolution in clubhead design utilizing our revolutionary Fusion Technology. A massive 50 grams of discretionary weight has been created using a Carbon Fiber Body — creating the OptiFit Weighting System that produces three center of gravity configurations: Draw, Neutral and Fade, enabling golfers to choose a combination to best suit their individual game. The larger, more robust CT/VFT Titanium cup face is designed to the legal limit, as defined by the USGA Characteristic Time test, resulting in increased ball speed, distance and forgiveness — even on miss-hits.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-5 Drivers:

I had never been able to make a straight full swing until I tried this driver. I have the E-150 stiff shaft on an 11 degrees "draw" head.

Every drive is now long, straight and more constant than ever.

I do not even wish to try anything else.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-5 Drivers:

I moved up to a "Very Good" 9.5 FT-5 Neutral with the Fuji Fit-On for my 50th. Oh, Yeh. I was pleasantly surprised with off-center hits, distance and accuracy. No need to over-swing, I can cut and draw a bit now, too. So what if it's loud; it's long and straight. Friends amazed at low-trajectory 240 yard tee shots...not me!

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-5 Drivers:

I'm a senior and after years of struggling with 9.5 to 10.5 degree drivers, I decided to check my ego at the door and bought a 13 degree FT5 with draw bias and regular shaft. I've regained the the draw I used to hit when I was a kid, I'm finding the fairway more often, and I've found more distance. My handicap is going down and my ego is in better shape than ever.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-5 Drivers:

I'm a casual golfer (lefty) with a fade to slice off the tee and was looking for accuracy & replacement for my Steelhead III (F flex). In past year I've tried pre-owned X460, Tour X460 & HyperX. At a Ping Demo hit a draw G15 (R flex) ok but not impressed. Traded the Hyper X for an FT-5 Draw (R flex) and am impressed & hitting it long & straight again. FT-5 is a little louder than most but I can live with it. The FT-5 was 'Ave' condition but can't prove it by me. Great Club, great condition, great price w/ trade in. I've bought Callaway pre-owned before and have never been disappointed and will do so again.

I like the driver ok and the price can't be beat. However, the Fujikura fit-on 150 shaft seemed extraordinarily stiff compared to my other drivers. It seemed to be straighter off the tee and I didn't notice it being loud, which other reviewers had mentioned.

I have upgraded from a FT3 to FT 5, looking for some improvement, both are 10 degree neutral . The FT3 has a 55R Aldila shaft, the FT-5 has a Fugikura Flex R-2. The ball flight of the FT-5 is a disappointing weak fade, what can I do ?

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

You have a senior flex in your FT-5 and you may want to get a regular flex installed . The R2 stands for senior flex and this may be part of he problem.

                • A:

Hey, PJ...I upgraded to the FT-5 9.5 Neutral last season, but with the Fuji Fit-on 150 Stiff. The shaft yields the flight path I want, which is low-bore...brings out the forgiveness in the clubhead design for me. I can still work the ball a bit, too. Y'know, it sounds like the R-2 might be a bit flabby for your swing speed. Let the CPO boys hook you up with an FT-5 Stiff; they won't jag you around.

                  A:

The Fujikura E360 weighs 68 grams and will also have a mid kick. This is the stock shaft for the FT-5 Tour model so it will play a little stiffer than the E150. I would suggest you may want to switch to the Tour model with as low as your handicap is. It may benefit you even more.

                  A:

The Fujikura E150 regular flex shaft will weigh 56 grams, have a mid torque and low/mid kick point. The Fujikura 64 will weigh 63 grams and have the same torque and kick point specs. IF you tend to slice or fade the ball, I would go with a draw bias, but if you tend to miss your shots to the left, I would go with a neutral bias.

I would shorten the driver by an inch. If you tend to draw the ball, you will want a neutral bias driver. As far as loft, if you are a low ball hitter, I would try to go with either an 11 degree or 13 degree loft.

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

The Fujikura (Callaway Golf) 64 shaft was the stock shaft in the X460 drivers and the X fairway woods. The Fujikura E-150 shaft was the stock shaft for the FT-5 driver. The Fujikura 64 shaft is a heavier shaft (between 63 and 64 grams) and it has a low - mid torque depending on the flex. The Fujikura E-150 is weighted between 55 and 57 grams and has a mid torque.

The E-150 Regular shaft is our lightest shaft at 56 grams. With your swing speed and distance off the tee this is probably the best shaft for you.

With a swing speed of 110 mph you can surely get away with playing an extra stiff shaft, however I would recommend getting fitted by a professional to find out what shaft type will fit you best.
