Product Overview

The Big Bertha 2008 Irons take forgiveness to new heights by integrating a set of clubs featuring the new i-brids™, clubs designed to replace hard-to-hit long irons. The i-brids combine the accuracy & control of irons with the forgiveness & versatility of a hybrid & are the most highly playable hybrid-like irons Callaway Golf could make.

In the women's model the 4 through 7 iron is always going to be the i-brid version while the 8 thru lob wedge will be the traditional.

On the men's model the 3 through 5 iron comes in both i-brid and traditional. Please look for the 'i' designation when making your selection.

Comments about Callaway Golf Big Bertha Irons (2008):

These clubs have added a lot of length to my game. I have had to step down 1-2 clubs at most distances. Also helping me work on my terrible hook. I had often thought about quitting golf, again, but now I love it again.

Comments about Callaway Golf Big Bertha Irons (2008):

      Usually play twice a week.
Game is getting better as I adjust to the weight and feel of the irons.
I am having some difficulty adjusting to the long irons.
Short irons are easier to hit and my distance has increased.

Comments about Callaway Golf Big Bertha Irons (2008):

Traded in old set of big berthas for taylormade r7 irons last year and regretted it. I wanted to see how the ibird performed on the course and if I would like it without getting the whole set. It is a great club for my game; I now want the rest of the 08 big bertha set. Oh well live and learn.

Comments about Callaway Golf Big Bertha Irons (2008):

These clubs are so easy to hit and they get the ball really high in the air. Even on mis-hits you don't lose much distance. I picked up a good 10 yards on each club versus my old set. The 3-5 i-brids look a lot like shovels but if you can get over that, they really perform great. The irons lack a bit of feel, but that is expected in a super game improvement set.

Comments about Callaway Golf Big Bertha Irons (2008):

I love these clubs! I'm a recreational player looking to improve my game and I purchased these clubs looking for a forgiving club that would allow me to play well enough to keep me interested in golf and improve my game (to hit straighter with more consistency). These clubs let me hit well enough that I'm confident that any mistakes I make are not the club's fault, hence I am motivated to practice and hone my swing, technique, etc. Most of the complaints I've heard about these clubs tend to come from more experienced players who don't really need game improvement clubs (e.g., these aren't right for working the ball/shaping your shot; or the i-brids don't look like traditional clubs); however those issues are irrelevant to my needs. If you are just looking for more consistency getting the ball off the ground and hitting straighter, these are the perfect club for you.

The standard length will depend on the model iron or club you are interested in. With your height, I would recommend standard length and lie angle. Especially with your lower handicap.

i went to buy these clubs today and they were out. I did put money down on the fti irons and I am having a little trouble finding any reviews on them. I was told they are the best irons made and the price is very high. If the FTI irons as I am told are the improved big berthas then why am I having so much trouble finding any information on them. If they are as good as the salesman says then great and heres my money. If not please let me know so I dont spend alot of money on irons like I did on my first set and end up looking for great game improvment irons. Any suggestions or comments would be very nice.

The FT irons are a great set of irons. They are not to replace the Big Bertha irons at all though. The FT irons are a little less forgiving than the Big Bertha irons. Here is a link from our callawaygolf.com website with some information for you:

You will probably need a one to two degree flat lie. I am 5' 4" and I was measured and that is the degree of flat that I needed. I recommend that you see someone who can measure you and determine what is right for you. For those of us who are shorter , standard clubs/lies will cause us to hit the ball to the left. I dropped 7 strokes from my handicap once I had my clubs adjust for the correct lie.

                      A:

A 2008 Big Bertha 4i is a 4 i-brid. That means the 4 iron will play more like a hybrid but will still look like a 4 iron with a wider sole.

Go with the Big Berthas. The original Big
Berthas were the most comfortable, forgiving clubs ever. You are not the only one to give away the BB's and then regret it.
