Rated 1 out of 5 by from Callaway should be embarrassed! I ordered the GBB Epic driver that was described as being in “Average” condition recently....I received the driver and can’t tell you how disappointed I was with the condition of the club! looked like someone had tied it to their rear car bumper and the drove home after a bad round of golf! I had previously purchased a set of pre-owned irons and was very pleased with the condition, but this driver was just terrible! Callaway, you can do better than this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Driver First off - I'm a ~7 handicapper, swing speed with a driver is in the low 90s, and I play ~2+ rounds a week during the summers and as much during the winter as weather allows in Charlotte. I upgraded to the Epic from Callaway's GBB model - primarily because I was looking for more consistency and out of curiosity. I'm very pleased and a surprised after the first couple of months of playing with the Epic. Consistency - I've had more drives in the fairway and find the club more forgiving than the GBB. I still have off-center hits, mostly off the heal of the club - but those strikes tend to find the edges of the fairway or the rough and only lose a bit of distance. I expected the jailbreak technology to be more forgiving. Distance - hard to be too precise, but I believe I've picked up at least 10 yards on my drives (from ~260 to 270+) when I hit it well. The recent winter conditions which are wet and soft do not allow the ball to roll out - so I'm estimating a bit. Regardless, when I do pure the drive - the ball flight, feel and distance are all noticeable improvements and very encouraging. The added distance and more fairways hit have caused the Epic has become my favorite club in the bag. The increased distance and feel off the face of the club are the two factors I did not expect. I have had playing partners make unsolicited comments on a few occasions that I have picked up yardage on my drives. From reading prior reviews -I was expecting a "harder" feel on impact, especially with the jailbreak technology. However, the feel/sound is more of a softer one in my opinion and I can feel the compression of the ball (Chrome soft). Overall, very pleased with the purchase and I believe Callaway has made advancements in its driver technology over the years. It's not all hype and marketing. If you're looking for a bit more distance and consistency - give it a try!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Distance gain Due to living in the Frozen North I have not had much opportunity to use this driver since I purchased it, but I have on three occasions taken this out along with my 9 deg GBB to compare the two. At first I set the club to the same settings as the GBB i.e. 8 deg draw face & draw weight and immediately hit three duck hooks. I then set it back to 9 deg , square with about 50% draw weight and notice that the launch was lower and spin rate less than the GBB. After a few holes I was hitting pretty consistent slight draws that did add to the distance. As I was playing alone on a very quiet day I would hit two drives off each tee with both drivers and the Epic was consistently 10 to 12 yards longer than the GBB and on occasions as much as 25 yards mainly due to the extra roll, My GBB I hit so high it tends to roll very little.. It was perhaps not as accurate as the GBB, I still need a few more rounds with it to get used to the timing with the new shaft and I am not as keen on the sound so I will have to get used to that as well. But one to two clubs less into a green at my age is very welcome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes awhile to adjust, but bigger distance and accuracy is definitely there Last year I bought new Steelheads but waited on a driver because the Epic had just come out. I wanted to further adjust to hitting a big-headed driver before investing $500. Went on vacation and noticed one of my playing partners was hitting an Epic, and he let me hit his club. It felt like I was swinging a loaded weapon! Started looking on the Preowned site for a certified Epic driver, which lined up pretty well with the way we buy cars these days. Got the club in 2 days and immediately started experimenting with the clubbead adjustments. Now--after playing with the draw and fade options--i'm back to the neutral set-up and have a lot more confidence hitting the club. I hit it about as far as my previous driver but maybe 3 times a round really unleash a drive that goes 40-50 yards further than what I'm used to. I expect to add a little draw back in over the next several months as I further master the club. I feel like the Epic is well-integrated with my Steelhead set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very pleased I am not a expert on any of the catagories used to rate this club, but I do like it. Have only played 2 rounds with it but have hit numerous balls at the range. I replaced an XR16 which was a very nice club, but I do feel the Epic is more forgiving on balls hit on the toe. When I hit the sweet spot it is a very good feeling. Iam glad I purchased this as well as the Epic 3 & 5 wood .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely longer I love the look of this club and the feel too. Inspires great confidence at address. But what I really love about this driver is that it is loong! Easily 10 yards longer than my old Taylormade R1. Could not be happier with this club....Except the price. Got an awesome deal on Callaway golf pre-owned's website. The best place to buy Callaway gear.
