XR 16 Pro Drivers Technology Item
      • Distance Made Faster

We worked with the aerodynamics experts at Boeing to reach a completely new threshold of ball speed in a deeper face. We made this a high head speed design with low drag in a 450cc head, and we did it by pinpointing the size and placement of our re-engineered shape and a lighter Speed Step Crown to save weight and add more ball speed. And with lower spin and a more neutral CG bias, XR Pro 16 is built for the distance and workability that low-handicap players are looking for.

      • Forgiveness For Better Players

This driver has the forgiveness that better players can use to their advantage, and that’s what happens when you add MOI, stretch out the crown with a bigger footprint, and put in a Center of Gravity that’s lower and deeper. All this forgiveness leads to more ball speed at every impact location, which can add more distance for all golfers.

      • Even More Ball Speed With A Faster Face

We’ve stepped up our game with next generation R•MOTO Face Technology that’s lighter and thinner to deliver more ball speed across the face. When you combine the faster face with the forgiveness in this driver, you can pick up a lot of ball speed, whether you hit it dead center, off the heel, or off the toe. Doesn’t matter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more Taylormade woods in my bag! I have always been a Taylormade guy, everything in my bag except for my Scotty putter was Taylormade. I was playing a tour issue M2 driver and R9 TP 3 & 5 fairway woods. All my Taylormade woods have the Matrix White Tie Platinum X5 x-stiff shafts in them. I'd Honestly just never liked the way Callaway woods looked at address and then my buddy got an XR Pro 9° with an x-stiff Speeder shaft that changed everything, lol! He ordered his in "very good" condition from the Callaway Preowned site here and it arrived in absolutely mint condition which really impressed me from the start! My buddy and myself play about the same, both float around a 5-7 handicap, pretty much equal in length no matter what club with drivers averaging 280ish, pitching wedges135ish and so on with the only big difference being he plays a lower loft driver than I do, he hits a 9°-9.5° depending on the model and a lower launching shaft and I play a 10.5° with a mid launch shaft but we end up pretty much in the same place in the fairway. We always try each others new clubs so when he got his XR Pro I tried it out while on the range before a round. 1st off was the way it looks, love the solid mat black crown! Never liked and never really got used to the half white and half black crown on the M2, not sure what Taylormade was thinking? Not a huge fan of the big "alignment aid" on the XR Pro but I've gotten used to it. The foot print is great, with it being more compact face to rear and the deeper face. Loved the way it sets up in the neutral position, being square to a little open where 99.9% of drivers, even the "pro" models look closed at address. I am a natural draw guy and hate a driver that looks closed in the neutral position so the address position was very appealing! First swing was dead straight, a little low flight but I expected that with the 9° head. Hit it a few more times on the range with the same results. This was mid summer and the fairways were rolling out and I hit his driver the entire round and probably averaged 300+ on every drive with the roll out which hurt me on a couple holes because I ended up going through the fairway a couple of times which I'd never done before and this is my home course where I know where to hit it and where not to. So, after our round I come home and ordered one just like his except I got mine on the Callaway Preowned Ebay site and with the 10.5° head but with the same x-stiff Speeder shaft. Ordered it in "very good" condition and while it wasn't as mint as my buddies it was really close to mint! It looked like a demo club, with some very light scratches on the sole and with what ball marks were on the face they wiped right off and there was not a mark on the crown, even come with a new matching XR Pro head cover instead of one of the generic Callaway covers! So I couldn't be happier with the condition and price of this driver. The 2 other purchases I've made from Callaway Preowned one on here the other on their Ebay site, one for an XR Pro 3 wood and one for an XR Pro hybrid we're just as good! The 3 wood was ordered in "like new" condition and it was brand new! The head still had the plastic on it and the head cover in a plastic bag taped to the shaft and all was in the original plastic Callaway bag just like you'd get if bought new. The hybrid said it was "average" which is the worse of the 4 on Callaway's grading system. Looked like it had only been played a few rounds with. Maybe because the shaft had been lengthened was their reasoning? Saved me from having to lengthen it myself since I play everything except my driver and 3 wood +1/2". Don't know if my buddy and I just got lucky with our orders, although I don't think so. I just don't see how some of these reviews could be true when it comes to the shape they receive their clubs in? Even read one that said the driver had a hole in the crown which I don't believe for a second and don't you believe it either! I figured I would have to swap the Speeder shaft out for the White Tie to get the launch I wanted but the shaft Speeder shaft paired perfectly with the head and I got the launch and flight I wanted right out of the box, with the exception of changing the head position to 1° open and I installed a grip to match the rest of my clubs. Took both my Taylormade M2 with my White Tie x-stiff and this XR Pro with the x-stiff Speeder to the launch monitor and hit them side by side. Both the swing speeds (4-5 mph) and the ball speeds (8-10 mph) were faster with the XR Pro which equals 4-5 yards more of carry distance. But my big gains with this XR Pro is on my misses (maybe a 10 yard loss vs 20 or more yards lost on a miss with the M2) and then the roll out, where I usually only got maybe 5 yards or 10 if I was really lucky with the M2 and I average 15-20 with the XR Pro. Those gains translate to a hitting an iron less or sometimes 2 less. A 7 iron where I'd normally hit a 6 or a pitching wedge instead of a 9 and anytime you can put a shorter iron in your hand, especially in the scoring irons is a world of difference! I've drove a 335-365 (depending on where the tees are that day) par 4 a few times that's equaled a couple of eagles and a lot of easy birdies on where with the M2 I was consistently 10-15 yards short. I've even went back on the monitor and hit the newer drivers that are out and the only one that I hit any better than this XR Pro and I mean just barely better was the new 2018 model G400 with an average of only a yard more carry distance. I paid $155 for the XR Pro vs almost $500 for the G400 with the shaft upgrade that matched me. So with what I've saved not needing a driver upgrade I've bought the matching XR Pro 3 fairway wood (I've got set at 16°) and an XR Pro 4 hybrid (comes 22° but I've got it bent and set to 20°) all I've changed on them was grips. With the 4 hybrid being both really long and super versatile it's replaced both my 5 wood and my 3 iron. The 3 wood and 4 hybrid have the same Speeder shaft this driver has. Every wood or hybrid I've ever owned I always ended up changing out the shafts to get the launch and flight I wanted. I own a small golf shop in my basement where I do custom club work, everything from regripping and reshafting to custom paint fill and refinishing. Mostly regripping and changing out shafts and/or adapters. Since I have my dealer license with all the big name grip and shaft companies I get my shafts either gave to me to try out and review or got them for wholesale cost. So I didn't get eaten up in retail cost. But the way Callaway matches their head and shaft components there has been no need and saved ne even more money! Sorry to be so long winded but I hope this helps if someone is on the fence on buying one of these XR Pro drivers. And don't let the "pro" scare you away. The lower spin this head offers can also help lower some side spin. I'm not saying it'll cure a banana slice or duck hook by any means! But for example my miss is over drawing and most courses today are set up for a fade and often have most of the "trouble" on the left side be it trees, water or OB. This head makes my misses more manageable and playable where with other higher spinning driver heads my miss would be way left where the "trouble" is. This is the best driver for the value around! Just as "hot" faced as any of the newer models and as I said, the shaft and head are matched perfectly! And these Fujikura shafts aren't junk! They are a premium shaft that Callaway has set the specs that Fujikura has built them by and thus why the head and shaft combos work perfectly together to get you those extra yards! Remember this when deciding on your next driver: The rules set the limits on club faces and how "hot" they're allowed to be. This head/shaft combo helps you swing faster, minimizes lost yards on misses and adds yards with extra roll out. So, as the review summary says, this is the 1st time ever there are no Taylormade woods in my bag! That's something the guys I play with regularly noticed immediately and all said they never thought they'd see me switch from Taylormade woods! One guy even made the comment that before this you would've thought I was a staffer, lol!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from xr 16 Pro I ordered the xr - 16 pro driver in bargain condition because this was all they had with a Regular shaft. The club came with an large very visible gouge in the crown of the driver. They may call it playable, but when you address the ball all you see is the gouge. It is not even eligible for trade because of the gouge..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from not "like new" love the performance of the driver, but it is difficult to get a "like new" XR 16 pro driver that is actually "like new". went back and forth 3 times and finally just gave up and kept the third one even though it was still not "like new" - ball marks on the face, slight scuffing on bottom, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Next Generation Driver without the Sticker Shock I have been hitting Callaway Drivers for over 15 years. My old trusted driver was an FT9 Tour with a Diamana Blue shaft. Kept trying to find a driver that was a little more forgiving, but you can still work the ball....and with the "new" distance these drivers are creating. BAM! XR16 Pro with the Speeder shaft delivers on all fronts. When you hit it on the screws its 15+ yeards longer, but the real advantage for us (non professionals) is the distance when you dont hit it perfectly. 25+ yards longer than old driver. I've hit the Epic (which I love...reference sticker shock), but this is OH SO Close. Great sounding driver too. You cant go wrong with this club. But, as always, get the right shaft. Which should be easy due to how Callaway matches their heads with the shafts. Love this club!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best driver I have had from Callaway I am 60 years old and play to a 6 handicap. I have had many drivers over the past several years trying to find the one driver that feels solid, gives me good distance and is easy to control. I ad recently purchased a TM M1 because everyone is playing it so it must be good right. Wrong-- It didn't feel solid when I hit it to many movable parts for me. I like simple so I went back to Callaway. I have owned many of Callaway latest versions of drivers in fact I purchased both versions of this club with stock stiff shafts so I could compare them side by side on a driving range. The Pro version was much better for me. It has a smaller head and the feel coming off the club was much softer. I have used it 10 rounds and I have gained about 10 yard and are hitting more fairways. Don't be afraid of this club just because it is called a pro version. I have a swing speed of around 90-93 mph and I have no problem with this club.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A true neutral driver This driver is a very good choice if you are sick of the typical drivers of the today designed to help you to draw the ball. You can draw this but not so much accidentally. It's long and has good feel and the sound is ok too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best thing since slice bread was made!!! I played a lot of clubs, woods and drivers. The easiest BY FAR to hit off the ground the woods!! I used to hit a fade and sometimes a power fade lol. The XR pro help reduce the spin and now it more straight or slight fade. Last, I tested the apex irons and Mac daddy wedges they are great also! I play cobra irons but wished I could afford the Callaway irons! Overall EXCELLENT product for all level of golfers!!!
