I bought a used 3-iron and used sandwedge to add to my 4-GW set of Maltby blades. They have a nice thin profile when you are looking over the ball and are still very forgiving.

In the early 90's I was playing the mini tours here in California trying to get on tour. I played the X-12's and the X-14's as Callaway was kind enough to fit and customize my equipment at no charge for me when no other manufacture would.
Now that I am a regular working guy, 50 hours a week plus, I went back to a set of irons I played my best with. Bought them 2 months ago and finally got a chance to hit balls today.
Sooooo solid...love the rifle shaft! I was able to flight the ball and shape it no problem. Can't wait for my next days off to tackle Torrey South with my old, NEW irons!!!

My main golfing irons from age 50-60, were the Steelhead X-14 irons with X-Stiff graphite shafts. I was reluctant to try them but found the stiffness of the shaft to be a plus, rather than a minus.
These golfing irons provided to me:
Excellent shot making ability. Could work the ball any direction and hit low or punch shots. Put lot's of spin on the golf ball. A low profile appearance, something I definately value in an iron.
With the graphtie shafts I did experience slight difficulty with green-side chipping.
All in all, a superb set of golfing irons for the lower handicap player.
If you are a low handicap golfer with a high swing speed, and possibly suffering a bit of arthritis or tendonitis, these golf clubs are made to order for you.

I have the X14 Pro Series 3-PW and 54 Degree SW with X Stiff Rifle Shafts. I cannot stress enough that everyone I have let hit them now knows how it is SUPPOSED to feel when you strike a golf ball. Put theses clubs in your bag!

Brought mine back in 92 i think? had the sharfts changed to Reg by Callaway still use them to this day fantastic set of irons 3-9 ive not hit any thing else that has matched them also use the first 2 ball putter they brought out too Never change that

I've been playing golf for 15 years off and on. The last 5 years have been dedicated to practice and playing once per week. September 2011 I was at a driving range practicing with my Ping Eye 2's. I saw this set of Pro Series x14's in the shop and asked about them. I was told that I could purchase them for [$]-sw plus gap w.I bought them and have played 3 times this month. Best 3 scores of my life. I'm sold and won't be changing irons EVER! Full of confidence!!!!
