Product Overview

The Steelhead X-14 Irons feature stainless steel construction and Variable Face Thickness (VFT) Technology to ensure a precisely located center of gravity. Face thickness on the Callaway X-14 tapers strategically from top to bottom and heel to toe and is optimized in the long, mid and short irons. This helps promote more forgiveness and a greater resistance to twisting at impact.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Newer not always better I traded in my X14s for a set of X16s using the trade up option. Boy did I make a mistake! I called Callaway pre owned after a range visit and ask for my X14s back. They were very polite and said they were sorry and will get my X14s back to me. WHAT A GREAT COMPANY! I will always buy my equipment from these guys! August 7, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Thrilled with my Steelheads I had my X-20's stolen from my car a few months back, and it was the best thing that ever happened to my golf game, because it led to me finding Steelhead X-14's. I borrowed my friend's Steelheads, and I loved them so much that I ordered a used set from Callaway Pre-Owned. I got them right away, played with them right away, and loved them right away. I'm driving my friend crazy because after every flush hit, I say, "Did I mention that I love my Steelheads?" I'm sure he's tired of hearing it, but these irons are so much better than my new (before they were stolen) X-20's, so I tell him how much I love them several times per round. They are more accurate, more forgiving, have less vibration, less feedback on poor hits, are more consistent, and are significantly longer. I'm even hitting the 2-iron flush, and I've never even been able to strike a 3-iron well, let alone a 2-iron. I couldn't be any happier with my irons. I had been eyeing several higher end iron sets, but I'll be sticking with my Steelhead X-14's! August 21, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great condition for a used club I ordered this club to replace a damaged 5 iron. It was shipped quickly and the club exceeded my expectations for a used club at this price. It was in almost new condition and the club face was perfect. April 21, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Better then the new clubs out there by far!!!! One of the best callaway has produced.... I will touch on my history and why I chose these clubs. I only had 3 sets if clubs in my 30 years of playing. When I started golfing in 1982 I learned on a set of walterhagen blades. I had titlist persimmons woods. These were the hardest clubs to hit, but being so young we did not know.. This probably made me a somewhat better ball striker though. As the years went on I got to be a 8 handicap player. With that said as time went on better equipment came out. I was reluctant because I played well and everyone said I had great clubs. Well it was time to go cavityback and 1996 was the year I decided to upgrade. (14 yrs later) With what??? Well I saw a set of Wilson cavity back prostaff mid size irons... Wow how sweet. Thin sold and blade like sized. Hit the ball great. Played like a blade but great forgiveness. Miss hits stung like a bee like blades but not as bad, but you knew what was wrong and corrected on the next shot. These were 17-4 stainless steel and I can tell you this clubs still look new and have worn minimally. Well 1996 until now, (17 years later), these clubs have served me well. But getting older and not playing as much as I like, its hard to find that sweet spot as often as I like. My handicap is around a 14 trending 12L now.... So I said at 47 years old I should update my whole bag.... Last set I will buy until the death of me...LOL. What to do.. I researched a lot and came away with the callaway brand. The issue is I learned that clubs are now game improvement, super, and ultra game improvement. I figure how can I go wrong the the best game improvement club right? So I zeroed in on the diablo edge. Thick sold and big head... Well I can thell you the ball went straight, and had zero feel. Caught in the heart and you get flyers that go 20-30 yeards past the hole... Hey I played blades that were pinpoint my whole life. 150 yards mean 150 yards..not 180 yards with flyers that the edges were giving me.. So customer service was excellent and let me try the clubs 30 days. Well back they went. The issue too was the sold is too wide. If you are a scooper you will tend to skull them IMO....Plus the big notch cavity backs are not for me.. Weight too low and sweet spot is low. These clubs will never make you a better ball striker IMO. After further research I say the diablo edge forged... Well is a forged body with a steel face. Long story short, these things were harder to hit the my Wilson staffs. You need to be dead on... Slightly smaller but still a larger sole.... Forget it. I felt I was going backwards. Back they went. Okay so reviewing countless websites on clubs and reviews I zeroed in on the x 14s...Why? The x 14's have the thin sole that I am used to playing and fits my game. Top line is thicker then the two old sets clubs I played with, but that visual issue went away after the second round. Also the price. These clubs like all the other callaways in like new condition are really new.. No blemishes I could find.. With that said these are forgiving clubs. I feel like I am back in my prime. Last week I broke 80 for the first time in years. Shot a 79... These clubs have feel and came be worked. These fly straight and try if that's what you want. I have a fade bias and sometimes it gets out of hand but these clubs dampen that somewhat. I need to work hard for a draw, but that's my swing. I have a outside in habit that is 30 years old...LOL These clubs also are weighted perfect IMO. My buddy bought the razr x irons and that club feels like its low weighted... If your a semi good ball striker you dont need to get the ball up I am sure. And if you need super, or ultra game improvement clubs you will never improve yor ball striking. These clubs have the best of both worlds IMO. They have no deep cut cavity back and had my Wilson staff looks from yesteryear. Stay away from any deep cut back if you want to improve. VFT technology seems to work for me also.Off center hits low or toe/heel fly at a different trajectory but almost get to your where you were aiming. Feel is great and you can still tell where you hit the ball. Spin is good on the shorter irons, although that may be ball related, I could still stop my 90 compression surlyn cover slazengers with min roll on the greens, One hop and stop.. 3 ft max. I hit high though...Always have. Also got my distance back. My old wilsons were heavily lofted, but accurate. These clubs are just as accurate if not more so, and are 1/2 to one club better. Where I was taking a 5 iron I now take a 6 iron. Well I hope this helps. Why spend $799 on the new hype irons when you can get the 14's for $200 with shipping in new condition... New is not better, trust me. The X 14's are the last club you will buy IMO. Oh I coupled these with the X hot 9.5 driver and 3 wood. ( Also one of the best investments I made) I also use a callaway heaven wood hybrid. Great out of the rough when the 3 iron will just stick in the long stuff. Also treated myself to the forged wedges in 48 and 54... I don't play a 58. A 54 is all you need. I never use the 50 really. Thats because if I do miss a green I am usually not more then 1-3 ft off the green. Good luck.... June 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by X-14 Approach Wedge I wanted to purchase an approach wedge that matched my full set of clubs, and would enhance the set should I decide to sell them. Normally I play an extremely popular and well know wedge set with low bounce that performs well on tight lies. I ordered an X-14 AW that was average condition, however it arrived in better than average condition. I spent an hour or so with a large bucket of range balls at a covered driving range, comparing the X14 AW to my normal wedge. I was pleased to note that the X-14 performed as well as, and even slightly better than my usual approach wedge. The key points I noticed about the X14 wedge were the accuracy of the club and the well-balanced feel. Please note: I have yet to trial the club off of tight fairway lies. Terrific golf club. Money well spent. March 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sold golfing irons As a senior citizen playing multiple times per week, I have the opportunity to try different golf clubs as well as work alot on my game. The X-14's currently in my bag with the Uniflex shaft provide a solid, dependable golf game day after day. As a low handicap player these clubs provide the following to me: Solid, dependable service. Ability to hit high shots with medium and long irons. Excellent around the greens. Excellent for pitching, as well as punch shots. Can fade or draw shots, but only moderately. December 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb clubs Last year a Got some Diablo Edge Hybrids and a Diablo Edge Driver from Callaway Pre-Owned and I am very pleased with them. Recently I wanted to change my irons. I got in contact with Callaway Pre-Owned again and Brian attended me. Fist I would like to say that Callaway, in my opinion, is the best golf clubs making company, is like Rolex, Ferrari, the best of the best. I got a set of Steelhead X-14 irons. The price was very good and the clubs are superb. They are very easy to heat and they also let you work the ball. A very good combination of forgiveness and accuracy. They look very nice also. They put new Callaway grips on all of them. I honestly recommend the X-14’s for those who are trying to get better scores by making better shots. The service at Callaway Pre-Owned is fantastic. I am from Mexico and although I speak English, I’m far from speaking it fluidly. Brian was very helpful and patient. They send them to my country without any problems. If I ever want to change my clubs again, I will contact Callaway Pre-Owned without hesitation. The best clubs brand, the best service and the best prices. Thanks Callaway Pre-Owned! Thanks Brian!
