The Ping i3 + model is for players needing forgiveness and consistency that is provided by the larger heads. Ping i3 irons have a Progressive offset throughout the set to assist in a square face at impact for increased accuracy. The key reason to the added forgiveness is related to the Custom Tuning Port in the cavity of Ping i3s that helped increase the perimeter weighting.

I have yet purchased any club from Callaway and not received a quality product, either another brand or Callaway brand. You get what you pay for.

[...] one of the best things I've ever done for my golf game. They make me aware of standing more upright when addresing the ball. Going back to the good old days of steel shafts for my irons made me notice the better feel of steel shafts and I actually gained distance over my old graphite, maybe because I hit the ball better with these clubs. I've become a Ping man since I bought these irons and also purchased some Ping woods and Ping wedges. Love their stuff.

I've owned them all and have migrated back to G2, I3+, and ISI-S. Can't live with the cost and cosmetics of newer models without any improvements in performance. After reshafting my G2s and I3+s with Project X they are almost as good as my Callaway X-12 Pros with CW Rifle.
