Cleveland CG16 Black Pearl Tour Zip Groove Wedges
I like these wedges alot. Best for full shots I have ever tried
Have the great feel of the Cleveland 588 with a ton
of forgiveness. If you don;t practice wedges every day like the touring pros, these will provide the consistency you need.
I particularly like the Traction shaft, which is a little bit softer than the dynamic gold stiff that are put into most wedges.
The shaft tip is softer, so it gives a better feel.
The cavity back gives you confidence that you will hit the
ball cleanly, so you can worry about the target and not
the swing. Great.
On chips, the clubs are very efficient so they give the ball
a ride with even a short swing. Don't over swing on the chips.
You can nip the ball off short grass, even with the high
bounce. I use the 12 degree bounce, so no need for the low 6 degree bounce on some other wedges. The sole of the wedge
is the same width all the way from heel to toe, which is different
than other wedges. Take a look. Ralph Maltby says this helps with chipping.
Out of the sand, they provide a great thump when you
swing the right way. If you are a lousy sand player, then
stay out of the sand, nothing will help.
The special grooves do nothing special for me. The
advantage of these clubs is the solid strikes, not the spin.
