Comments about Callaway Golf X-Forged Irons (2007):

I've been playing for 15+ years, but had taken about an 8 year break (got married). I started playing again last year (got divorced). Before I stopped, I shot in mid 80's, but now back in the upper 90's. I'm much older now (50) and my swing is a lot slower. I had bought a set of x18R's, because I have always wanted Callaway's, but couldn't afford them (until the 18R's). I have gotten back to a fairly consistent swing, but not where it needs to be, yet. I saw these and thought they would be too hard to hit, given my "work in progress" swing. I would check this site every night and think "what if". I finally decided to pull the trigger and found a set with Uniflex shafts (not too stiff and not too soft). Even with my inconsistencies, these clubs are sweet. Granted, the mishits aren't good, but they aren't any more harsh than with any of the other clubs I've owned. BUT, the good ones are a joy to watch fly. I'm going to have these clubs for years and am glad that I took the chance on them.

Comments about Callaway Golf X-Forged Irons (2007):

I got these to upgrade from my Cleveland Launcher irons. Great purchase, the look, feel, sound, and work the ball better. I couldn't be happier I recommend these to anyone looking to move into a players iron. Word to the wise, good ball striking is still a must for them to work well.

Should every club have a registration/serial # on the hosel? Recently purchased 4-PW and only the 8 iron has a number on hosel.

                  A:

For Callaway irons, the 8 iron will be the only club that has the serial number listed and that is only if they are brand new clubs. If they have been refurbished, than that serial number may get buffed out.

Really looking at the 3-pw non-flighted project X (5.5) set while it is on sale. Problem is that I don't need the 3 or 4 iron because I already have callaway hybrids 2 & 4 iron. I would also need them bent back to 1UP. Should I continue to wait or can the sales team work something out with me?

              • Q:

Greetings. I am a 49, currently play to 9.5 index and have played/enjoyed my Fusion irons for four years. I am considering a change to forged to get more feel and get to the next level (play 60-70 rounds annually). With this limited information, is my best bet the 2007 X forged, Protos, or 2009 X forged? BTW--I have been fitted several times very recently and know my specs--plus 3/4", 1 degree up, 5.5 project x or KBS tour stiff. Average 6 iron swing speed 85-88mph. Thank you for your response!

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

I would recommend the 2007 or 2009 X-Forged irons. They will still have good forgiveness, but will have a much better feel to them and will allow you to shape the ball. The Prototypes are meant for a low handicap player, and will be harder to hit than the X-Forged irons. With your swing speed, I would recommend a regular flex shaft, in this case the Project X 5.5 shafts.

If I purchase the 2 Iron Steel Stiff 6.0 (Stiff) Royal Precision Project X Flighted Steel (TTIP) 2 Up (White) Standard Like New $71.99 iron which is 2 degrees upright, can you straighten it to normal/no up or down before you ship it? If so, how much would it cost to straighten it? I am very intersted in the club. Any chance of any additional discount?

                  A:

The Project X Rifle shafts in a 6.0 will have a low torque and mid kick point. The Project X Flighted shafts are made to help get the longer irons in the air easier and keep the shorter irons lower for optimal trajectory. The Flighted shafts will have a low torque, higher kick points in the shorter irons, and lower kick points in the longer irons.

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

A uniflex shaft is in between a regular and stiff flex and is the most common shaft in golf. It adjusts to your swing speed so if you swing fast it will play as a stiff, and if you swing slower it plays like a regular flex.

How do I compare X-Forged (2007) iron to X-20 (2008) irons to X-22 (2009) irons. Each year you claim the new is the best. Yet Forged is supposed to be superior feel while Composite makes the same claim. In the same line, how does one choose between Callaway, Mizuno, etc., etc., when all claim to be the best. I can not hit them all. I can't even find many of them near me. Suggestions , please. Any massive DEMO days nearby?
