Comments about Callaway Golf X-Forged Irons (2007):

I learned to play using Forged clubs. Hogan, Staff, Mizuno, etc. I had been playing some X-tours for about 4 years, but the offset and thicker topline gave me direction problems. These clubs have restored my accuracy and furnished valuable feedback. My ball striking has improved and I am now back into the low to mid 70s, about a 3-4 stroke per round improvement.

Comments about Callaway Golf X-Forged Irons (2007):

Bought a 6-iron during the [$] sale. I love the feedback and feel that this club gives you. It's like a baseball bat - when you hit the sweet spot, it flies and you don't feel a thing. When you miss the sweet spot, the club tells you whether it was heel, toe, high low. I think this feedback is valuable to me in improving my ball-striking consistency / ability. These clubs are also respond well to shot-shaping techniques (draw/fade). I'm looking forward to unlocking that aspect of the game. Of course, they also perform excellently on straight shots.

I upgraded from X-14s to these two years ago and I'm still using them. They're very workable and very long and I love them. The only reason they're my 2nd favorite iron is because I've played with my friends X-Prototype, and oh wow. But these irons are a close second (better than the 09s).

Purchased these irons to replace a set I already had. After getting used to the blade style again, I found that I am hitting 1 club less than with my older set. The feel and control are incredible. Best set of clubs I have owned.

I'm more or less a beginner, started with lessons last summer and have steadily improved from terrible to bad. The X-forged wedges were just right for me, so I thought I'd take a chance on the irons even though they are supposed to be unforgiving and not suitable for a HH like me. While I'm not sure I get quite as much distance as with Cleveland CG-7s, the weight and balance are perfect and shots almost always are straight with nice trajectory. Love them, and my son (15 handicap) tried them last week and now wants them.

For Callaway irons, the 8 iron will be the only club that has the serial number listed and that is only if they are brand new clubs. If they have been refurbished, than that serial number may get buffed out.

Greetings. I am a 49, currently play to 9.5 index and have played/enjoyed my Fusion irons for four years. I am considering a change to forged to get more feel and get to the next level (play 60-70 rounds annually). With this limited information, is my best bet the 2007 X forged, Protos, or 2009 X forged? BTW--I have been fitted several times very recently and know my specs--plus 3/4", 1 degree up, 5.5 project x or KBS tour stiff. Average 6 iron swing speed 85-88mph. Thank you for your response!

I would recommend the 2007 or 2009 X-Forged irons. They will still have good forgiveness, but will have a much better feel to them and will allow you to shape the ball. The Prototypes are meant for a low handicap player, and will be harder to hit than the X-Forged irons. With your swing speed, I would recommend a regular flex shaft, in this case the Project X 5.5 shafts.

The Project X Rifle shafts in a 6.0 will have a low torque and mid kick point. The Project X Flighted shafts are made to help get the longer irons in the air easier and keep the shorter irons lower for optimal trajectory. The Flighted shafts will have a low torque, higher kick points in the shorter irons, and lower kick points in the longer irons.

A uniflex shaft is in between a regular and stiff flex and is the most common shaft in golf. It adjusts to your swing speed so if you swing fast it will play as a stiff, and if you swing slower it plays like a regular flex.

                          • Q:

How do I compare X-Forged (2007) iron to X-20 (2008) irons to X-22 (2009) irons. Each year you claim the new is the best. Yet Forged is supposed to be superior feel while Composite makes the same claim. In the same line, how does one choose between Callaway, Mizuno, etc., etc., when all claim to be the best. I can not hit them all. I can't even find many of them near me. Suggestions , please. Any massive DEMO days nearby?
