Product Overview

To improve on the highly successful X-20 Tour Irons, Callaway Golf engineers added new features that allow the X-22 Tour Irons to play even better and feel even softer. Precision Notch Weighting and a new sleeker hosel combine to raise the MOI for better stability and allow the CG to be moved lower and more in line with the center of the face. This generates ideal trajectories and significantly enhances the level of feel. The head shape has been refined with the thinnest possible topline while still using a 360-Degree Undercut Channel, and the optimized sole width progression provides better turf interaction.

Comments about Callaway Golf X-22 Tour Irons:

Great irons, I was using Hogan Apex Forged Irons, the heads are much smaller on the x22 tours and the shafts are a huge improvement, I look forward to the next round.

          • Q:

I am thinking about buying a set of X-22 Tour Irons from you but I don't like any of the shafts offered. The set I am looking at has the Rifle Project X flighted shafts. I have a complete set of Rifle AirLite shafts with 370 parallel tips, will these work or do I need a 355 taper tip?

            Thanks

Asked on 11/3/2009 by Butch from Savannah, Ga

            1 answer

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

The X-22 Tour irons have a parallel shafts so the 370 parallel Rifle AirLite shafts you had should work. For more information please contact our sales department at 1-800-200-4726.

Are the x-22 tour irons off set?

Asked on 11/2/2009 by dw from leominster ma

            1 answer

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

The x-22 tour irons have minimal offset. If you are looking for the same style with a little more offset, you might want to look more into the x-22 irons.

          • Q:

What does the + or - on the lie mean? Does this mean the toe is for the + and is up more than a standard lie and does the - mean the heal of the club is down more than a standard lie?

Asked on 10/30/2009 by Brad from San Jose, CA

            1 answer

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

The + lie means that the toe of the club will be higher (upright) than the standard lie. The - lie means that the toe of the club will be lower (flat) than the standard lie.

          • Q:

I am looking at buying a set of x-22 tours. I shoot mid-high 90's and currently using 2002 Big Bertha irons. Is this a good club to switch to?

Asked on 10/24/2009 by Schuby from Kingston TN

            1 answer

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

The X-22 Tour irons are a great iron set but they are less forgiving than the 2002 Big Berthas. You may want to look into going with the regular X-22 irons. They are more offset than the Tours and they have a larger sweet spot. If you have any inventory inquiries, please call our sales staff at 800-200-4726.

          • Q:

I am a 5.0 index golfer and my first priority is accuracy, should I purchase the X-22 Tour or X-22 Forged Irons?

            Asked on 10/21/2009 by Anonymous

            1 answer

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

The X-forged irons will not be as forgiving as the X-22 Tour irons as they are a forged club and the X-22 tour irons have a cavity back to them.

          • Q:

I was recently fitted for X-22 tour clubs at Dick's. My lie angle was measured at -2 degrees. How does that relate to the "flat" or "up" indication in your new charts?

            Asked on 10/20/2009 by Denny

            1 answer

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

If your lie angle was measured at -2, that would indicate that you should have the lie angle bent 2 degrees flat.

I don't know too much about the X-Forged, but I tried the X22 Tour irons and they are GREAT!!! I think they are easy to hit, have great feel and you can work the ball. To be honest with you, my hdcp is slightly less than yours and I tried a friend's (hdcp 13) X22 tour irons, and I am NOW looking to buy a set of these myself!

          • Q:

I have noticed most pro's use steel shafts. Whats the difference between steel and grafite?

Asked on 9/28/2009 by Mike the late starter from Thibodaux, La.

            2 answers

            • A:

Steel shafts offer more rigidity and strength that pros and better plays prefer. Graphite shafts have the advantage of being lighter, and thus may be swung faster, and they absorb some of the "shock" of impact so they are the shaft of choice of many seniors, women and player who may have hand, finger or joint problems.

Answered on 10/13/2009 by rotorheadUSMC from New Haven, CT
            • A:

In todays world very little difference. Depends in large part on your swing speed age and general condition. Graphite tend to be lighter and have higher ball flight. For strong players with higher club speed steel better choice. If older or slower swing; try graphite. Hope that helps.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN X-22 TOUR IRONS AND X-22 IRONS?

            Asked on 9/28/2009 by Anonymous

            1 answer

            • A:

The tours offer more feel if you hit of center. The others are more of a performance enhancing club with less feed back on miss hits. If you want your game to get better get the tours, if you want forgiveness go with X-22's.

What does -1/2 inch or -1/4 inch indicate in the length column?

Asked on 9/23/2009 by Greg from Robins AFB, GA

            1 answer

            • A:

the irons are NOT standard length. They are -1/2 or -1/4 under standard. Get fitted to see what you need and then buy here.

I'm a 12.4 index golfer - are these clubs suited to the mid handicap golfer or are they more suited to lower handicap or scratch golfers?

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

The x-22 Tour iron are suited for the below average golfer. Being that you are a 12.4 handicap these clubs will take you to the next level in your game. They have the workability of a blade but the forgivness of a cavity back iron.

I would have to say you should go with the Forged X if you want to improve your ball striking, and take your game to the next level. You will have more feel and better feedback from the Forged X's

Answered on 10/3/2009 by E from Maine
            • A:

I am the same index you are and found the I can hit different shots with these clubs. I played the TM R7 TP before and like these better. The lots are stronger so you might have some gaps. The long irons in the X22 tours are very easy to hit and forgiving. I think you will be fine.
