Comments about Callaway Golf X-18 Irons:

I got this club because I developed issues with hitting woods, including my driver. It was a good idea, as I can hit this club 170 yards when I hit it right. The feel on this club is not that good, but I didn't buy it because it's the latest and greatest. This club does what I wanted it to do.

Comments about Callaway Golf X-18 Irons:

I just got these this week and first I should mention that the people here at Callaway are great with the condition rating. My clubs were supposed to be "very good" and they appear to have been played for maybe 2 rounds, they are immaculate.

As far as the clubs themselves, I have always had a swing where my miss-hits would be slices. With these clubs I now hit draws and my misses will go straight but off to the right a bit. The only thing I notice is that I need to be very careful where I aim because the clubs hit exactly where the face points.

Great clubs and very satisfied with Callaway pre-owned

Comments about Callaway Golf X-18 Irons:

I have x-18 irons from 2007 that I love but found the gap between the pitching wedge, which I hit about 125 yards and the sand wedge, which is about 90 yards, too large. Hence, the "gap" wedge - which Callaway calls the "Approach" wedge. It's a perfect balance of the distance I get from the PW and the bounce of the SW. I love the club and the quality was excellent. I just needed to ad a midsize grip and I was good to go (although the grip was perfect that was already on the club).

                            A:

The general rule of thumb is that you use steel shafts until you physically cannot use them anymore. If you feel comfortable with steel, than I would definitely get a uniflex shaft. It will offer more accuracy and consistancy.

                          • A:

The answer to this is very simple. STAY AWAY FROM UNIFLEX. Get a good swing analysis. Learn your swing speed. If you prefer steel over graphite use it. Graphite however can give you more flex options for slower swings. My wife at 5-1 with a slow but strong swing uses a men's graphite senior flex. She loves them. Just get the shaft that matches your swing speed. Uniflex is usually not good for most golfers. Talk to your professional and Callaway. They can set you on the proper path. I wish you well.

I am a new player trying to decide between a new x-18r set and a pre-owned big bertha 2008 set. Which would you recommend? I would like a set that is forgiving, but also could be used in the future as my game improves.

The 2008 Big Bertha Irons are a great club for a beginner, they offer maximum forgiveness and will be very easy to hit. The X-18 and X-18 irons are a little less forgiving and will allow you to shape the ball a little bit more than the Big Bertha irons. I would suggest if you are new to the game to go with the Big Bertha set.

All of our X Series irons will play very similarly to each other, but if you have the wrong shaft, you will not see the results you are wanting. The regular X-18 irons will be much more forgiving, they will have a larger sweet spot, and they will have more offset. The Pro-Series are more for players with a low handicap and will have a smaller yet hotter sweet spot and less offset.

                            A:

Uniflex steel shafts weigh about 100-110 grams. Senior graphite shaft weigh anywhere from 70-90 grams. Constant weight means that all the shafts are the same weight.

                            A:

The lie angle is the degrees that the toe of the club is bent up or down. The color code represents the lie angle at which the club is bent. Blue for 3 degrees upright, White 2 up, green 1 up, Black is standard lie angle, Gold is 1 dregree flat or bent down, Red 2 Flat and Yellow 3 Flat. Typically taller people play a more upright lie angle and shorter people play a flater lie anlgle.

The lie angle of a golf club refers to the angle that is created between the shaft of the club and the ground as you hold the club out to hit it. As a general rule, a player who is shorter in stature would need a slightly flatter lie angle. Likewise, a player that is slightly taller than average may need a more upright lie angle. Our Custom Department can alter both the length and the lie angle of just about any Callaway set in our inventory. If you would like assistance in having a set fit to your height please feel free to give our sales staff a call.

Uniflex is supposed to be a one size fits all flex between regular and stiff. Some say it is closer to a regular flex shaft.
