I, like other golfers have lost our ability to keep our swings in check because of oversized heads on drivers. We tend to swing without control hoping the large sweetspot will save us. The 225cc head on the Steelhead III driver is a perfect size and makes you control you swing path better than larger heads. I haven't missed a fairway since I returned to this driver.

Always had problems squaring the club face with those big headed lite drivers. I have GBB II fairway woods and love them. This club matches the feel of the GBB II's and is easy to hit straight. May not get the distance of the newer drivers, but not much shorter. Plus how much do you gain by staying in the short grass. This club will drop your score by four strokes a round for the mid-high handicap golfer.

Great club for windy conditions off the tee or to take advantage of hard fairways in wintertime (greater roll). My loft is 9 degrees with a regular shaft, probably not the best specs for my slower swing speed. However, the smaller head of the Steelhead III driver allows for good contact off the deck on fairways (particularly for second shots on long par 5's). With roll, fairway shots can average 200 yards or more. Sweetspot is small and not as forgiving compared to current 460cc drivers, but the clubface is much easier to release and square than the larger headed, longer shafted drivers. This might help some slicers. Smaller head also allows for slightly more clubhead speed than with the 460cc drivers, also helping with distance. Consider carrying this club as a second driver, replacing the 3 wood for windy or hard fairway conditions. Tee the ball much lower off the tee than with the big drivers.

I love this driver. I have owned it since 2002 when it came out and have never thought twice about getting a different one. I would feel like I betrayed it or something. Just because it is a smaller head doesn't mean you won't drive as far. I am a consistent 300 yard driver and this club has helped me keep those drives in the fairway. I have even hit off the fairway on a par 5 over 250 yards. I stopped playing for about a year and came out yesterday and blasted my tee shot on the first hole about 285 right down the pipe and it only got better from there.
