Product Overview

Fade it. Draw it. Or take it over the trees. If you’ve got the creativity in your game to imagine golf’s most incredible tee shots, the new FT-9 Driver is made just for you. Callaway Golf engineers were able to expand on the success of the FT-5® and surpass expectations with the FT-9 Driver. With the addition of Hyperbolic Face Technology, ball speeds across the entire face have been dramatically improved to generate even more distance off the tee. Golfers will have the option to choose Draw or Neutral configurations with the help of external web weighting that helps precisely position the CG to promote the desired trajectory and ball flight for the desired shot shape.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-9 Tour Drivers:

This is a great driver.I finally got a driver that would replace the FT3 that I had been carrying. The FT5 was a disappointment and was not near as long as the FT3.I am playing an 8.5 degree FT9 Tour with graffaloy 65x shaft and it is the best driver yet! Anyone that would give this driver a bad rating because they "snap hook" it really has no business reviewing a club.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-9 Tour Drivers:

Significant generational leap in technology over the 454 I've used way too long. Solid feel, very easy to hit, very forgiving, and increased distance and accuracy over any product on the market today (based on professional fitting at PGA Super Store and on course demos). Look no further, the FT-9 Tour is the real deal.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-9 Tour Drivers:

I got this driver as a replacement for my FT-5 Tour that split along the fusion line. It was built to the same specs as the FT-5 Tour (10.5, neutral face and Matrix Ozik Stiff shaft) unfortunately I could not keep it from snap hooking. I was really hoping this club would live up to the hype...unfortunately all it did was long for my FT-5.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-9 Tour Drivers:

Replaced an FT-5 Tour I-Mix. The FT-9 is quieter (!), more forgiving and as long or longer than the FT-5. I will take more risky shots with it than I did with the 5. With either the Diamana BlueBoard or Fubuki shafts in it, it has saved my bacon several times. Toe hits - my personal bugbear - work out much better than I deserve. I can even hit a decent fade with confidence that I won't lose it right.

what is the difference between ft-9tour and the regular ft-9, also are they both 460cc

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

Both the FT-9 and FT-9 Tour drivers are 460cc. The FT-9 drivers come in full degree lofts (9, 10, 11, 13) and have a 1 degree closed face. The FT-9 Tour drivers come in half degree lofts (8.5, 9.5, 10.5) and have a 1 degree open face. Also the Tour drivers will have a little bit heavier shaft (9 grams).

I am sure this has been tested but with the same swing how does the FT9 compare distance wise to the FT5?

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

The FT-9 driver is very similar to the FT-5, but will be a little bit longer in distance.

            • Q:

Approx how much draw bias does the draw club have?

And I noted Callaway states "The FT-9 Tour Driver features a slightly open face angle and produces stronger, more penetrating trajectories" - is the different trajectory due to the open face or something else like higher CG?

Asked on 11/9/2009 by Al from CA

              1 answer

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

The draw bias is produced by the weighting of the club itself. On draw biased clubs there is more weight on the heel of the club to help promote a draw or help reduce a fade/slice. The tour models have different shafts with different kick points (higher) that help keep the ball a little bit lower than non-tour clubs.

            • Q:

the ft9 tour is 1 degree open if you get the draw shape will it make the club angle stright and not open

Asked on 10/27/2009 by soviet from Vista, CA

              1 answer

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

The draw bias for the FT-9 Tour will only change the weighting of the club. The face angle will still be 1 degree open, but the weight is more on the heel of the driver which will help promote a draw.

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

All of our FT-9 Tour drivers are 1 degrees open. The draw bias only refers to the weighting of the club not the face angle. For more information please call our sales department at 1-800-200-4726.

The FT-9 is 1° closed and the FT-9 tour is 1° open. That is the main difference between the two.

              • A:

You really can't. Best bet is to visit an authorized Callaway dealer that has a fitting cart. Pay a fitting fee and test the different lofts and shafts that are available for the FT-9. Get the specs for the one you hit the best, then keep an eye on this site for one to become available.

I'm a 7 hdcp 51 yrs old, I currently pay a FT3 Pro, 9 degrees, stiff. I am looking for a FT9 Pro 10.5, regular or Stiff. Not sure which way to go. with the FT3 I average about 250 yrds, long on a perfect shot I can reach 300 yrds. Play pretty much a straight shot maybe a little draw.
