Product Overview

The new FT-5 Driver is the latest evolution in clubhead design utilizing our revolutionary Fusion Technology. A massive 50 grams of discretionary weight has been created using a Carbon Fiber Body — creating the OptiFit Weighting System that produces three center of gravity configurations: Draw, Neutral and Fade, enabling golfers to choose a combination to best suit their individual game. The larger, more robust CT/VFT Titanium cup face is designed to the legal limit, as defined by the USGA Characteristic Time test, resulting in increased ball speed, distance and forgiveness — even on miss-hits.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-5 Drivers:

I have tried generic brands, then went to a cleveland hibore xl, then a titleist 975j, then a taylormade burner, then my ft-5. got an aldila stiff shaft and nuetral face. there is basically nothing wrong with this club. it hits monster shots and is the most forgiving club i have used. i love that i dont even have to try to swing. just follow basic techniques and the club does the work. get one! i know i will never get rid of myne.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-5 Drivers:

Hard to hit a bad shot with this club. Has a large sweet spot and its permissive. Good trajectory and the ball rolls when it touches the ground instead of dying on the spot. The club condition was listed average and I have to say that it was way better than average it did not have any scuff marks or wear marks. Very satisfied with my purchase.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-5 Drivers:

I finally upgraded my driver, and after trying the HiBore Monster and disliking it, I bought a used FT-5. This driver has given me a confidence off the tee I haven't had in years. I have also finally driven a couple of 300+ yard drives. The FT-5 has added a consistent 20-40 yards to my drive. Fujikura shaft is perfect for my swing.

I used to fade the ball with my old driver or 3 wood off the tee. This draw angled head corrects that problem for me, allowing me to hit consistent drives down the fairway. I feel confident that the ball will be playable if not right down the middle. Big sweet spot and good flex also.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-5 Drivers:

The club feels very light in my hand which makes my swing alot easier and when accurately hitting the ball it goes straight and far. Love it!

The only draw-back that I've found is that whenever the club hits the ball my tee tends to ricochet & put dents into the back of the head which is not cover with metal but plastic. So far in my last 4 rounds of golf I had accummulated 8 dents on my club-head. While my 10 year old Ladies' Ben Hogan driver has no dents as its club head is covered with metal.

Hope Callaway will be making more durable drivers with more metal coverage.

I have upgraded from a FT3 to FT 5, looking for some improvement, both are 10 degree neutral . The FT3 has a 55R Aldila shaft, the FT-5 has a Fugikura Flex R-2. The ball flight of the FT-5 is a disappointing weak fade, what can I do ?

You have a senior flex in your FT-5 and you may want to get a regular flex installed . The R2 stands for senior flex and this may be part of he problem.

Hey, PJ...I upgraded to the FT-5 9.5 Neutral last season, but with the Fuji Fit-on 150 Stiff. The shaft yields the flight path I want, which is low-bore...brings out the forgiveness in the clubhead design for me. I can still work the ball a bit, too. Y'know, it sounds like the R-2 might be a bit flabby for your swing speed. Let the CPO boys hook you up with an FT-5 Stiff; they won't jag you around.

The Fujikura E360 weighs 68 grams and will also have a mid kick. This is the stock shaft for the FT-5 Tour model so it will play a little stiffer than the E150. I would suggest you may want to switch to the Tour model with as low as your handicap is. It may benefit you even more.

trying to decide on neutral or draw

                      A:

The Fujikura E150 regular flex shaft will weigh 56 grams, have a mid torque and low/mid kick point. The Fujikura 64 will weigh 63 grams and have the same torque and kick point specs. IF you tend to slice or fade the ball, I would go with a draw bias, but if you tend to miss your shots to the left, I would go with a neutral bias.

I would shorten the driver by an inch. If you tend to draw the ball, you will want a neutral bias driver. As far as loft, if you are a low ball hitter, I would try to go with either an 11 degree or 13 degree loft.

The Fujikura (Callaway Golf) 64 shaft was the stock shaft in the X460 drivers and the X fairway woods. The Fujikura E-150 shaft was the stock shaft for the FT-5 driver. The Fujikura 64 shaft is a heavier shaft (between 63 and 64 grams) and it has a low - mid torque depending on the flex. The Fujikura E-150 is weighted between 55 and 57 grams and has a mid torque.

I have FT-5 driver,9 degree, fujikura E-150 Regular Flex 350 tip shaft, std length. My swing speed is about 90, Is this shaft considered a heavier shaft, and if so would a lighter shaft increase my swing speed and distance off tee, and if so do you have any shafts you would recommend? I drive the ball currently about 230 with slight right to left draw.

The E-150 Regular shaft is our lightest shaft at 56 grams. With your swing speed and distance off the tee this is probably the best shaft for you.

We do have a selection of FT-5 drivers with a senior shaft. Unfortunately we only sell I-Mix shafts which would not fit your FT-5 driver. For more information please call our sales department at 1-800-200-4726.

With a swing speed of 110 mph you can surely get away with playing an extra stiff shaft, however I would recommend getting fitted by a professional to find out what shaft type will fit you best.

FT9 will give you the greatest distance between the three of those listed. I would consider the FT-9 the longest driver Callaway makes.
