Product Overview

Ultimate in Forged Performance

Before Apex Irons, conventional wisdom was that you couldn’t have extreme, radical performance in a forged iron. Well we changed all that, and now conventional wisdom couldn’t be more wrong.

Ultra Hot Face

We made a thinner, hotter face that increases ball speeds across the entire face. You get more ball speed, you get more distance.

Forged Carbon Steel Body

It delivers the soft, responsive feel that players demand from a forged club.

Tungsten Sole Inserts

They lower CG, maximizing forgiveness and increasing launch angles. It’s a level of playability you wouldn’t expect from a forged iron.

High Performance Wide Groove

More consistent spin and pinpoint control from every lie.

Premium Shaft Offerings

New True Temper XP95 steel shaft offering delivers high launch angles with a controlled ball flight for premium performance in a lightweight offering.

UST Recoil is a lightweight graphite shaft with higher flex points, resulting in great feel and workability.

Note: Tungsten Sole in 3-5 iron

Best iron on the market I'm not one to buy into the hype that the marketing guru's spin out each year on their latest and greatest iron. I've played the same irons since 2006 that I had custom fit. Over the past few years I've tested: Ping - s55, s56, i20, g20... Titleist - Ap2 712, Ap2 714..., Callaway - x hot this x forged that, ... Taylormade - rocket this rocket that.... and that's just the short list. Most of these irons are great but they never out performed my current irons, or enough to justify making the switch. When I test irons on the range or on launch monitor I always made sure to bring my irons and hit them side by side. From the first swing with the Apex iron I knew there was something different. They felt soft but the ball jumped of the club face without a lot of effort, especially the long irons. I could hit it high or low, left or right with ease. I was concerned about the extra distance and the gaps that would create so I adjusted the lofts on my wedges and filled the gap. I know the lofts are stronger on the apex irons but that's not a problem once you get use to the extra distance. Apex does everything a players iron does just without beating you up on miss hits. Its been said the gap between player irons and Game improved iron is getting smaller and I believe it now. Everyone has their own preferences for feel and looks and for me the apex looks great, feels even better and the performance speaks for itself, the apex irons are in my bag to stay. January 22, 2014
Apex is awesome I had the pleasure of an outdoor fitting by Cool Clubs in Scottsdale, AZ from Chris Thomas earlier this week. I am a 3 handicap & currently play Mizuno MP52 irons. In my fitting at TPC Scottsdale the Apex clearly was the winner. We tested the Apex against the following: Titleist AP2, Mizuno MP54, Mizuno EZ Forged and Ping S55. I was amazed at the feel, appearance, and performance of the new Apex forged. December 8, 2013
classic design with semi classic insert i am 55 years old and have been playing golf for 41 years..recently, i tested several irons as my one year old ill fitted mizuno's (thanks golfsmith) seem to have lost their distance and consistency. i tried several different irons and shafts. wow, the callaway apex irons with dynamic gold s300 shafts were dramatically superior than the ping g25's, taylor made, cobra, and clevelands all with the same weighted shafts (dg s300)….these apex irons were long, yet consistent, with a ball flight that penetrated through the heavy ocean air…i am thrilled that callaway has redeemed themselves with this new iron..it's been awhile since they teased us with the diablo irons....i am now thinking of buying callaway stock again. APEX fitting at the CPC at the Annika Academy I had the great pleasure to get fit for a set of APEX irons yesterday by David Wheeler at the CPC in Orlando, Fl. Now I was convinced I needed the APEX pro irons but put my trust in David to be fit properly. We tried many different shafts and even though I have KBS C tapers in my current set and I thought I was going to leave with the new KBS Tour V, David proved to me that they were not the best Shaft for my current swing speed and shaft loading. The APEX was amazingly easy to hit and once we had the right shaft at least a club longer and with a really great swing two clubs longer than my forged MB irons and even my misses were past were I was hiting my current irons and still just off line. I normally hit my current 6 iron 160-165 yds, and the APEX was at least 170 on the misses, the good swings were 175- 180+ yds and dead on line. We worked with the APEX pro a bit but he did not have his fitting head in yet (only a stock 6 iron in stiff) so I only hit the new KBS shaft, it was nice and felt great but with my swing it did not perfrom as well as the APEX. I am too old and inconsistent to do the APEX pro justice. Now the wait for the new clubs to come in. December 6, 2013
Upgraded from my X-hots These are by far the best irons I have owned. Just upgraded from the x-hots, which I played all last season. There is absolutely no downside to these irons. I did not think that I could surpass the feel, launch angle and distance from the x-hots. I was wrong. December 19, 2013
Feel, feel, feel Never in my life have I felt anything feel so good. My first forged irons and they have blown me away. At the demo day last month my first few hits felt funny, probably because I was used to cast irons, but from then on felt awesome on every shot. It was enough to order them on the spot. Had Recoil shafts in mine as my skinny wrists cant handle steel. I replaced my one year old X Hot irons, lost alot of money in the change over, and couldnt be happier. Now I know what they mean by buttery. If you didnt see a ball fly out in front of you you would hardly know you hit one. As for performance. Im no longer than i was. X Hots were already long. Dispersion, a little better. Forgivness? This was an area i was concerned about. I was worried they would be for a better caliber player than me on a 15 handicap. Well nothing to worry about there. Very forgiving. Workability, much easier to bend your shots. Something I will enjoy now. I went all the way down to a sand wedge. I normally stop at a gap wedge. Great decision. Was able to lob it quite well and had the added forgivness I didnt have with my Mack daddys. Yes I did loose some spin but still have a 60* mack daddy for that. All I can say is that everyone should have these. Dont let the word forged have you think they are only for low handicappers. Guys, time to used that money you hide from the wife!!!! These irons produce an exceptional soft feel at impact. I m a 66 year young disabled Marine Nam Vet and have been playing since 1966. While awaiting orders for the Nam our CO asked for volunteers for an unknown detail and I stepped forward. I and three other jarheads were to represent our Company at a golf tournament and so my golf addiction therein began. I began my relationship with Callaway in 1991 with Big Bertha and have been with Callaway ever since. I update irons and driver and fairways yearly. I also get fitted as I take my golf extremely serious. As for these new Apex irons, I had them custom fit making the wedges one degree stronger to fit my swing and diminution of distance due to my age and swing. Callaway's implementation of an isomer (rubber# insert in the iron cavity back to absorb any shock has had attracted me in their past irons. I have never tried a forged iron although I have researched them for quite sometime. Upon receipt I tried said irons at my backyard net using impact tape. From the first hit throughout each iron the vast majority were all center hits, I was simply amazed! I found my swing need not be aggressive and the impact feel was very confidence inspiring as it has a very soft feel without ANY vibration. To me the head weight felt perfect, not heavy nor light. At closing a little story from my last home course play. At a three par with 160 yards to center green #GPS) I chose my six iron and disappointingly fell short to the front fringe. It happened again at another 3-par, why? Well I later learned that I had mistakenly switched my iron head covers nine with six. Thus hitting a nine iron to a 160 yard shot and hitting the front fringe. So, are these Apex Irons long? Yes, without a doubt and I am simply amazed with these irons and am pontificating of them at my home course. Can't wait for the new Big Bertha to come out. Semper Fi friends. December 31, 2013
Solid irons that have good feel and go a country mile Had these irons go up against my Ping I20s. Also compared them with the Pro model. Results were predictable. The Apex 6 iron has the same loft as my Ping 5 iron. Ball flight was slightly lower with the Apex and distance was an easy 12 yards farther. I tried several shafts including the UST Recoil. That shaft in stiff weighed over 20 grams less then my CFS shaft. The combo of stronger lofts and a light shaft made the iron go 20 yards farther then normal for me. I would wonder if I would need to weaken the lofts to get reasonable distances? Also, it's a hot face, but I don't know about hot spots and consistent distances? I did like the extra yardage, but that might be too much? The Pro seemed better yardage wise and closer to what I know. I hit it well, but the top line is really thin! In the end I'm undecided and will wait to hear others opinions. December 28, 2013
