Odyssey Metal-X Milled Versa #1 Putter
Good, but not GREAT
I am a putter FIEND. Putting is by far my favorite part of the game and since I picked up the game about 3 years ago I had always gravitated towards the short game and putting. Before I knew it I was buying putters on a weekly basis, obsessed with trying every shape, size, weight, material etc that existed. I have been through many scotties, some special ones stay and others leaving quite quickly. I have tried many Odysseys and some have stayed and some have gone. Nike, Taylormade, Rife, Ben Hogan, Cleveland, Ping. You guys get the idea. This putter looked like a cool blend of two new technologies so after skipping the most recent milled metal x because I had the first gen metal x I decided to give this stick a whirl. I will start with looks, move to quality and finish up with feel/speed control.
Look: Very handsome/sweet looking putter. The black shaft is very cool and the milled metal face mixed with the versa alignment is a rich blend of technology and sophistication. The weights are nice quality and the sight line looks good on the top line rather than the cavity, a nice change of pace. Its a small thing but the divot tool is nice quality that doubles as a wrench. The grip fits and is typical odyssey standard grip. Cool head cover with a glossy area that makes it look very snazzy. Great looking putter and Items!
Quality: Here is where things went a TAD down hill for me. The Versa black alignment is made from what feels like some sort of plastic and I feel it somehow makes it feel a bit cheap when you actually go over the putter with your hands. You can almost see how the "pieces" of the putter were assembled. I thought the black part was the same quality as the metal part, but it's not, and even the metal isnt very high quality. My first time putting the putter back in its head cover the magnets from the cover stuck to the head. For anyone who isn't aware, the magnet test is how you find counterfeit scotties. I can only assume this putter is made from a lower quality material. Not only did this surprise me from a quality standpoint but it goes on to be the biggest complaint I have about this putter, it doesn't feel great.
Feel: Last but not least we have what actually matters. How does this stick feel? Its so-so folks. The stuff about the X-bar for improved feel and sound is either fake or they need to go back to the table. I found the material of the steel to be almost fake feeling, like high quality aluminum. It aint a scotty, thats for sure. I took it to the course and the first thing I noticed was how dull it felt compared to my Nike mod-90, my scotty newport 2 (08-11), my napa odyssey metal x, and even my scotty studio style which is widely known as a "soft" or "dull" putter. It was a dull that didn't feel soft, but rather empty. So, unfortunately this putter doesn't feel GREAT, it just feels medicore. It puts a nice roll on the ball and the distance control was surprisingly great. If you are looking for that nice audible click/tock sound of a perfectly struck putt, than this isn't the stick for you. On the other hand if you are looking for a putter that looks cool, has changeable weights and a cool face milling than this is DEFINITELY the putter for you. If you are a purist and prefer higher quality steels, a harder putter with a nice click and don't want a putter that feels a bit more like a toy rather than a hand made putting weapon, than maybe look else where. I almost play all Cally by the way with Bertha woods, X forged 13 irons and mack daddy wedges, and the excellent Super Soft golf ball. Odyssey let me down a bit with this one, back to using the 08 scotty cherry bomber, which is quite possibly one of the best feeling putters ever crafted.
Sorry Cally :(

This putter is a gem
The looks, feel and quality are tier 1. The putter has a great feel that is natural due to the custom fitting. Easy to align and set up over the ball. The feel of the ball coming off the putter is unmatched. The black shaft finishes off the putter nicely. Gives it a rich look

best feeling odyssey putter I've used.
This is my favorite odyssey putter I've tried. I have the mxm v 9ht and it looks better in person than the photos show. Feels softer than my Cameron select due to the face pattern and it gives very good feedback unlike my versa with insert. Distance control is very good, even on mis hits. The weight kit is a huge plus, it feels a little different with each configuration so you can fine tune to your liking. Even the head cover is a nice touch. The previous review said about bad materials but I believe he's confused between carbon and stainless steel. If you use the head cover that comes with the club there should be no problem with durability.

Excellent putter, got exactly what I wanted/expected
This product was listed as used but it looked brand new when I received it. It's in perfect condition. The weight and balance of the putter is excellent and the ball comes off the milled face beautifully. The shaft feels kind of light and flimsy but it hasn't been a cause for concern. I've been putting much better ever since switching to this putter and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who prefers the milled putters over using a putter with an insert.

I replaced a ten or so year old Scotty Cameron with this putter. I love the versa alignment system. It seems much easier to line up putts with this compared to the Scotty Cameron. The sound is similar and the ball rolls just as well. Distance control is very good also. I did replace the grip with a SuperStroke 3.0 slim. Overall, I find this to be a fantastic putter and am very glad I purchased it.

Very clean looking putter. Nice feel and weight. Would recommend to all. It came in better shape then I expected, looked brand new. Even came with a matching headcover (which I wasn't expecting).
