X2 Hot Deep Fairway Woods
Callaway X2 Hot 5 Deep
To be honest I was talking with a friend about this new deep series. I'm more of a Driver, 3 Wood kind of guy, after I hit the 5 Deep a few times, I changed my whole opinion. With the new 5 Deep I'm getting about 250-260 carry and 275-285 total!! Isn't that just insane with a 5 Wood!!! So needless to say I feel in love with it and at those distances I will never need a 3 Wood now! I mean really the 5 Deep is what any golfer would want. You can hit it high and land soft, hit low stingers with it, hit it off the deck, off the tee, I mean whatever you want, you can do with it!

Compared it to the taylormade mini-driver before purchase
Face size of both clubs very equal. 3 deep (14) went straighter and further both off the tee and an uphill lie off the deck.
Easier to swing as the mini-driver's club head swung "heavy". Used the 3 deep for 2 rounds and love the accuracy off the tee on 200yard+ par 3's and tight drives on short par 4's.

Off the rack, no tweaks needed...
Bought it off the rack. Hit several shots with it at the range, before heading to the course with it. Match play tourney. Used off the the tee for 8 out of 14 holes. Won match 5 and 4. +2 my own ball, great club. Part II today.

Great Club! Superior Distance!
This is a great club. I can hit it as far as my driver and have a much better chance of keeping the ball in the fairway. I can hit it from short fairway lies as well as the rough. I want a 13 1/2 degree deep three wood with a regular shaft.

What a missle launcher
Ball comes of hot and straight to slight draw. Ball flight has a boring ball flight and long. Just seems to find the fairway with ease. Easily out performs my driver of a different brand. I am thinking about this Aldila green tour shaft for my x hot 5 wood. I will also be looking at the new X2 hot Driver as well. I just don't remember a single club improving my game so much or cause so much excitement to get back to the course. If you don't give this club a test drive you are missing out.

Ball go far!
Reviewing the 2 Deep and 5 Deep Pro with stiff Aldila shaft. Admittedly, I was a bit hesitant to go out from my comfort zone of using anything other than a Titleist, but the reviews sounded great, and giving it a test run at the local golf shop confirmed that I needed to give these Callaways a shot, and sure am glad that I did!
From the first swing and contact, you know you have a keeper and gamer in the bag. The clubhead size is perfect for both off the tee and off the turf. Club has great feel and heavier feeling swing-weight which I prefer as I don't feel like I lose wear the club head is in my back and down swings.
I play to a 13 handicap, and was looking for something that will help keep me in the fairway off the tee when driver isn't needed, and also get me down long par 5's in 2, both of which are areas that I'm focusing on to improve scoring. No doubt that the addition of these woods will drop me to single digits in the near future.
I must admit though, I wish the companies would make drivers in the 260-350cc range again, as I think you lose tremendous clubhead speed and ability to square the face at impact with the big 460cc heads, that's why i currently have a Titleist 910D3, while still at 445cc, it's still smaller and easier to hit. So naturally I was drawn to the 2 Deep/Phrankenwood philosophy of smaller head yet still respectable distance.
I bought the 2 Deep for a 3 wood replacement/driver alternative, and the 5 Deep for teeing off on tight holes or going for it in 2 on par 5's. I was happy to find that off the tee, I was carrying about 275+ yards with the 2 Deep and about 245-260 with the 5 Deep! And this is only after using these woods for 3 rounds.
Trajectory on these so far in my limited use appears to be a more low-moderate boring trajectory, with the ability to put a little fade & draw spin on it. Because of this, I was getting on my holes 15-25 more yards of roll on flat to moderately downhill fairways. On back to back occasions at my local course, I was able to drive the green on a short 325 yard par 4 that I was never able to do before. My driver never kept me in play when I tried and my old 15 degree 3 wood didn't have the legs to get me there. The 2 Deep had no problem, and with a slight headwind too I might add. I had similar experiences on 2 other par 5's on my course that i could rarely get to in two shots. But hitting the 5 Deep from the fairways and light rough, I had no problem putting it past 250+.
In short, I couldn't be happier with the performance so far of these two clubs. The versatility and distance on these two woods will make it fun to shave some strokes off my game and hopefully get down to single digits. I know all of the above might sound too good to be true, but it's the honest truth and I think the results of having the right clubs in your bag for what you need.
