Product Overview

Fusion Technology that delivers professional shot-shaping and Tour distance, for a fine-tuned game.

This is the driver the shot makers turn to. Versatility, distance and control all in one space-age package. The FT-9 Driver was designed to deliver the most creative shot-making you can think of. Fade it. Draw it. Or take it over the trees. With the addition of Hyperbolic Face Technology, ball speeds across the entire face have been dramatically improved to generate even more distance. Choose between Draw or Neutral configurations with the help of external web weighting that helps precisely position the center of gravity to promote the desired trajectory and ball flight for the desired shot shape. The FT-9 Tour Driver features a slightly open face angle and produces stronger, more penetrating trajectories preferred by highly accomplished players.

  • Hyperbolic Face Technology: Hyperbolic shaping is our cutting-edge driver face design. Mathematics and engineering combine to create our highest ever ball speeds across the entire face.
  • Fusion Technology: Proprietary technology creates maximum perimeter weighting and more discretionary weight by combining a carbon composite body with the titanium face cup. This allows for precise positioning of the center of gravity, which increases stability on off-center hits and enables ball flight customization for shot-shaping control.
  • OptiFit Weighting System: Enables golfers to customize their driver by giving them two center of gravity locations to choose from: Draw for promoting a draw or reducing a slice/fade, and Neutral for maximum workability.
  • Visible External Web Weighting: Fusion Technology allows the web weights to be precisely positioned for a center of gravity that generates the desired Draw or Neutral ball flights, letting golfers hit longer and more accurate drives.

Went from Big Gertha 460 to FT-I to FT-9.Hit all very straight. The FT-I is more forgiving with more feedback, the FT-9 has a dead sound off the clubface but is extremly accurate and has more distance.5 to 10 more yards.I like the look at address of the FT-9 better than the FT-I but both are very good clubs.Have only played a couple of rounds with but i'm very happy with it.I haven't had a bad Callaway driver yet!

If you are considering the Callaway FT-9 get the i-mix set up. Best thing I ever did. Forget the standard shafts have the this driver custom fit. I was used to playing 10.5 degree stiff flex, but after being custom fit what was best for me was 8.5 degree xstiff draw face. having the correct shaft is key. But love the club.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-9 Drivers:

I've only been able to play with it twice here on the East Coast, but find it very easy to swing, got 10 more yards on my drives and it doesn't feel like I'm working hard to do it. Only drawback was the grip, I preferred a LAMKIN Crossline which I installed, better feel for me.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-9 Drivers:

Relatively short break-in time,it took about 27 holes to feel really comfortable, but then it was down the center and long. Traded in a Big Bertha 454 13 degree for a 10 degree FT-9 draw and gained at least 20 yards. Best move ever! My partners were questioning if it was a legal club!!

My drives have been much more accurate. First time on course (after 2 sessions at the range), hit 11 of 14 fairways. I averaged 17% fairways hit with my TM burner driver. I now average about 65-70% on fairways. Just shot an 85 at a course with slope 130 where I typically shoot mid 90's.

Comments about Callaway Golf FT-9 Drivers:

This is by far the longest and most accurate club that Callaway has created. I went from an average of 250 yards to 275 yards off the tee. The club has great feel and solid sound on impact. A great improvement over previous FT models. As always the staff at CGPO is the best in the business.

I've played TM R7, Titleist AP1 and the FT's are incredible. I have the graphite shafts and the overall feel is amazing along with the overall performance. I know they cost a few bucks but you definately get what you pay for!!!

                          A:

Yes, both will have the same size head and will be 1° closed. The draw bias club will have more weight toward the heel of the club, which will help reduce a fade/slice. The neutral bias club will have a centered weighting and will be better for shaping the ball.

What is the difference between a regular club and a tour club?

                        Asked on 2/1/2010 by Anonymous

                        • CUSTOMER CARE

                          A:

The regular FT-9 will have a 1° closed face and will come in full degree lofts. The FT-9 Tour will have a 1° open face and will come in half degree lofts. The Tour version will also have a heavier shaft which will help keep the ball flight lower.

Currently playing the FT9 with a stiff shaft with a swing speed of 105 mph. At what speed should an x-stiff be considered?

                          A:

I would recommend considering an X-Stiff shaft once your swing speed is over 110 mph. If you think you might need a stiffer shaft, I would suggest being fitted by a certified Callaway retailer. For a list of retailers near you, please visit www.callawaygolf.com.

no you have the right shaft for that speed.
