FT Optiforce 460cc Drivers
The undefeated champion for me in 2013
I couldn't believe that only 3 people had reviewed this fine driver and one guy didn't like it, so I felt compelled to add my two bits.
In mid 2013 I decided to buy and test ALL the just released 2013 drivers and find out which worked best for me. I had already found a shaft I liked, so I bought about 10 of them and RESHAFTED all my test candidates in the same length, and with the same grip. I hit a couple of big buckets with each new driver to learn its quirks before I gamed it against my reigning favorite for at least 36 holes. If a new one beat my champ, I sold off the losers and used the proceeds to buy the next couple of contenders.
Towards the end of the year, the Optiforce came out and although I had no hopes for it, I gave it a test. To my amazement, it whupped my reigning champ in the equivalent of a 2nd round knockout. I was stunned. I loved my old champ and didn't want to give it up, but the Opti just kept beating it.
The Opti 460 was perhaps not the tightest dispersing club I tried, but it was leaps and bounds the longest. I'm 55, a 2 handicap, and something of a short hitter. I averaged about 270 at the start of the year. Now I'm up to about a 295 average and look to carry bunkers at 270. Probably the first 10 yards of that increase I can attribute to improvements with the other drivers, but the last 10-15 were all Optiforce 460.
None of this makes sense. The Opti 460 is an old guy "slow swingers" club right? Well if I'm an old guy slow swinger then the Opti's improved aero head did exactly what it was supposed to do. Some folks carp about its 46" length, but I swing a shaft that measures 47 3/4" overall and don't have any trouble getting it around. Perhaps that's why the Opti performed well for me, because with better aero it works less than others at longer shaft lengths.
To me the solid THWACK sound it makes is a welcome detour from the tinny, hollow, bell-like pings of many of its competitors. It feels solid and when you flush one it just screams.
What didn't I like about it? It only comes in 10.5 loft and it will balloon a ball for many folks. I tamed that balloon by dialing the hosel down as low as I could go, then I teed the ball lower than my other drivers. I also thought it was too light. I added about 20-30 grams of shaft weight & lead tape over standard, which might seem like a counterproductive thing to do , but I've since learned that many other pros and Opti fans are doing the same thing. (BTW, I did try the lower-lofted 440 and liked it, but it could not beat out the 460 for me.)
Bottom line, if you overlook the Opti because it came out late in the year, or you think it lacks doo-dad adjustability, you do so at your peril. Odds are a quiet old guy with a dialed-in Opti will be putting it past you next spring.

Easy to swing, great balance
I really like this driver. It is easy to swing, feels good at impact, and looks great as well. Still feeling my way through the adjustments, but that is part of the fun.

I loved my Callaway razr fit so I bought this new FT Optiforce 460cc Driver. Why? 20 yards shorter, not as solid a feel, more dispersion than my older Razr fit.
Also, $200 more than I paid for my other Callaway.
It now sits in my closet.
Sorry to be so honest.
Very disappointed, loyal Callaway customer.

The quality is fantastic.
Was using Taylormade RBZ driver. Since I purchased the FT Optiforce 460cc driver and 3,5 woods. I noticed I was hitting the ball 10-20 yards further. The feel of these clubs are great and the accuracy is even better. I am 70 years old with an average of 240-250 yards with these clubs. Will recommend these clubs to anyone.

I added distance to my drives but accuracy was not as good as my previous driver. Also the sound and feel was some what muted.
I bought the 10.5 and adjusted it to 11.5. Also changing to a draw bias helped with hitting the fairway. This driver took some getting used to but I have found that the more I used it the better I like it.

Best Driver I have ever purchased. Period.
I'm still a single digit handicapper but my swing speed is slowing down.
I just worked on a launch monitor for 15 hours, hitting all of the new 2014 drivers and latest technologies.
During a three week period, we printed out numbers and did trial runs on my home course. My first overall thought was "the day of going in and picking a driver without a launch monitor and being able to test a driver on the golf course are truly gone". Also, numbers do not lie.
The OPTIFORCE 460/ Project X 5.5 won Hands down.
Above Bertha, the Alpha, Titleist, Adams, Taylormade, Cobra, Cleveland, you name it and we tested it.
The OPTI created an extra 7 mph of club head speed, a great launch angle, ball spin rate and was incredibly forgiving with all of its adjustability.
The Project X-43 gm. shaft works fantastic with the idea of creating clubhead speed while maintaining a D-2 swing weight! The clubs consistent forgiveness was unmatched in all of my testing. "Butter" comes to mind.
Thank You Callaway.

Very accurate in short grass all day
Replaced Xhot with Optiforce because of loft adjustability. Was very accurate when set to square and 11.5 loft. Carried well and even pulls and pushes stayed in play. Side spin minimal
