Apex CF 16 Irons is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 215.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from APEX CF 16 - A COMBO SET This is from a mature golfer (78 years young) with a current 12.6 USGA Index. I play at least 3 plus times per week at my home course and less frequently elsewhere. I played Titleist AP2s for years but switched to Callaway Apex about a year ago for a little more forgiveness. I bought and hit the Apex CF16 6 iron and outhit the original Apex 6 iron by about 10 yards (one full club for me). The look, feel and playability were superb so I bought a set of CF 16s (4 thru A Wedge). I have now played the CF16s for 10 full rounds. I believe that the 5 iron (the longest I use) through 7 iron are arguably the best irons I ever hit even going back to the Ping EYE 2s of the '80s. However the 8 thru PW are for me quite different. There is too large a distance gap between 7 and 8 irons and I find that these irons for me play differently than the 5,6 and 7 irons. I have gone back to my Original Apex 8, 9, and PW. I decreased loft on these (Original Apex 8, 9 and PW) by 1 degree to provide consistent gapping. My favorite 48 and 52 Gaps, 54 Sand and 58 Lob Wedges complete my setup. I now have the best set of irons I have ever played. I am hitting a lot more greens, am excited when I pull any iron and am extracting a few more dollars from the guys at home. Thanks Callaway!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Back in Apex Heaven Played original Hogan Apex irons for many years until they went out of business. I spent a long time trying to find clubs that perform in the same manner. been through quite a few sets looking for what I remembered with the old Apex irons. My search is finally over. the new Apex CF 16 Irons remind me of my old Apex irons in feel, direction , and distance. Home Run by Callaway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feel and great distance Totally surprised and extremely satisfied with this purchase Didn't know if I was good enough to handle the forged irons One club longer and more accurate than my Titleist AP1 set Sorry I didn't try them earlier. Have 10 rounds with them now and getting very comfortable with the distance change. I still surprised myself that a 70 year old with a 11.4 H.I. shot 75 a couple of days ago. Looking forward to my index going lower with these new sticks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More distance and more greens in regulation My previous gamer irons were Razr X HL. Recently, the day before a tournament, I picked up an Apex CF16 7 iron and PW, both with Regular Flex (F3) Recoil 760 shafts, from the demo/discount bin at a golf store going out of business. On a whim, I took the 7 iron to the driving range for warm ups prior to the tournament and so loved it I decided to put it in the bag in place of my HL 7 iron. I used it five times during that round and fell in love - I was actually hitting it the distance of my HL 6 iron, and much straighter. Afterwards, with the help of my Callaway pre-owned rep, Brian, I filled out the rest of my set, 4 iron through SW. I now have seven rounds with them. I'm 8 to 10 yards longer with each club, than I was with the HL. I'm hitting them straighter than I've ever been and have found I can hit a small draw, something I've never been able to do with my irons. Hits off the toe end up short (about 10% short), but straight, rather than really short and to the right. And, this may seems like an odd comment, but I like my divots now - it used to be that my divots were an explosion, now I seem to slice out a divot. The 13th hole at my home course is an uphill par 3, guarded by bunkers right front and left front. I typically hit a 5H, maybe a 4H depending on the wind. I'm now hitting the 6 iron. Twice in the seven rounds, I've hit it off the toe - but, the ball has flown straight and to the apron in front of the green, for a relatively easy up and down. I was very accustomed to hitting my second from the right front trap or from short of the right front trap when I mishit the tee shot with my old clubs. That's a stroke saver right there. On a couple of our short but tight par fours I've been driving with the 4 iron and staying out of trouble. Yesterday's round has convinced me these are my new gamer irons and convinced me to write this review. I had 7 greens in regulation; two on the fringe in regulation; and two greenside traps in regulation. In addition, I twice was on the green with my third, after punching out of trouble following a wayward drive, once to three inches for a par. On another, I executed a very difficult draw over a tree to a greenside bunker, after a drop following a drive into the water. One of my negative stats came when I couldn't clear a very large oak tree with the 6 iron, but I hit that one very well. I only had one bad mishit with the irons the entire round. This consistency on approaches to the green - being consistently on or immediately around the green with my approaches - is something I was not accustomed to. I am definitely a fan of the Apex CF 16.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feel and balance. With a 10 handicap and an over 70 golfer, these are the perfect clubs. Great feel and balance that reminds me of blades that I used years ago. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great irons. I'm 64 yrs. old and have been playing golf most of my life. I currently play to an 8 handicap. I've stayed away from forged irons for many years, wanting to capitalize on the greater forgiveness generally associated with cast irons. I bought these irons with the regular Recoil graphite shafts to give them a try. I REALLY like these irons. They feel like classic forged irons on solid hits while still offering a substantial amount of forgiveness on mishit shots. I don't find that I hit them any further than the cast irons I was previously playing, but love the feel of the irons and I've been hitting better approach shots and generally posting better scores since getting these irons. In short, I couldn't be more pleased with these iroms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great forged set of irons These clubs by far give me the best chance to play very good golf. I recently purchased a set of the new Steelhead irons. They now reside in my backup bag and I went back to my Apex CF 16 irons. I can't get used to the wide top line of the Steelheads and the Apex irons just suit my eye perfectly. I'm not sure about anybody else, but when I'm happy with my equipment my game seems to improve. Callaway is going to have to offer us some magic wands to beat these Apex CF 16's.
